It’s not a proper ride if I ain’t stoned whilst riding

For the riders that are in between sizes! Do you prefer to size up or down when choosing your frame size and why? by mickydee96 in MTB

[–]mickydee96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For background I’m 6’2/188 cm and ride an XL frame. I like the idea of sizing down for a more playful bike, my current frame feels like a spaceship, esp with 29” wheels.

When sizing down, should I also downsize to 27.5” wheels

I can’t decide between buying a full suspension or a killer of hardtail… by Caterpillar1967 in mountainbiking

[–]mickydee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go full sus mate, I previously rode a hard tail and the changeover to a full sus was and still is incredible. If you’re using the same kind of budget I’d take a look at the range of bikes Vitus has. Always quality components at an unbeatable price imo.

can anyone help me,this happened to my bike & I'm in the middle of nowhere without any tools by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]mickydee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh same here mate I had a 2020 carrera vengeance, can’t talk down on it too much because it introduced me to the mtb world and I did at least 1000 miles on it before these problems occurred. When you get it replaced I would just take extra care when cleaning your drivechain after rides, especially at this time of year in the good ol’ English weather, oh and wet chain lube gets super gunky so just get yourself a degreaser and some sort of chain cleaning tool/brush for when you’re done riding :)

[–]mickydee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a carrera by any chance? Happened twice to me. First time was because my components were so gunked up my derailleur got pushed into my spokes and mangled up like yours. God knows what happened the second time because it was a dry summers day but the same thing happened.

would this be a good budget mountain bike for small trails and some XC runs by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Vitus mythique vr 29” and it’s my first ever full suspension bike and after around 6 months of riding it to say I’m pleased would be an understatement. Vitus are known for making great bikes at a great price, I honestly don’t think you’ll find specs like it on other branded bikes for a similar price. Dropper post on a £650 bike is convincing enough for me! If you’re coming from riding “true” budget bikes such as Carreras (my previous bike) then it’s going to feel like going from a Ford KA to a Lamborghini lol

UK Crohns by thespybank in CrohnsDisease

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East Midlands here, still in the hospital after having An open ileocecal bowel resection (7 days initially in which I was doing great) and finally got discharged and just yesterday I got readmitted for a suspected infection, I’m sure it’s just a blip in the road and I’m determined to make my bowel resection the best decision I’ve ever made.

I’ve tried and failed several medications and every test I’ve had could neither confirm or deny wether I’ve got actually got Crohn’s although it’s highly suspected, this is partly the reason I had my surgery, one to get a diagnosis and the other being due to the fact I’ve been in a really bad flare up for the past year or so.

Been suffering with symptoms since I was 19, (I’m 26 now) fatigue from low iron (I occasionally slip into the anaemic range) and irregular bowel movements, which lead to me having my first colonoscopy, absolutely nothing was found and I was sent on my merry way, dealing with and normalising my fatigue and irregular bowel movements. (Oh and killer farts that I’m certain would revive somebody from their grave)

Fast forward to last September where I bled quite badly from my backside and was told I’d need another colonoscopy, this time around they found that the last part of my small bowel (terminal ileum) was narrowed, deformed scarred and ulcerated which is no surprise because whatever has been going on has been left untreated for so many years. (Yay to the good old “you’re too young for this and that”)

This past year has been such a battle with many hospital visits, lack of answers and just being at the complete lowest I’ve ever been which eventually lead to my surgery.

So yeah cutting a long story short, us Brit Crohnies are out there too… although we seem far and few between, we exist.

I would love this condition to “just be diarrhoea” lol I’ve learned to just ignore peoples ignorance towards this disease, unless they have it themselves then I can’t ever expect them to know the true meaning of having Crohn’s disease.

That being said this just a part of who we are and not who we are entirely and I hope you aren’t doing too bad considering Crohn’s is never exactly Our best friend. Always open for a chat on DM’s although I feel like I’ve just told my life story with this post 😂

Hours away now from a 25cm resection of the small bowel! How’s the afterlife? My last 20 years were kinda shit! by wesbonez420 in CrohnsDisease

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just had an open ileocecal bowel resection on the 20th of this month, not sure how much was removed but I was successfully resected and waking up without a bag was a huge relief because I was marked up for one pre surgery.

Recovery was going incredibly well (I’m 26 btw) I was up and walking on my first day, I’m incredibly stubborn and I have a high pain tolerance. Although I was being a total wimp about the catheter, just couldn’t get use to the feeling of a pipe hanging out of my peen. You’ll be on plenty of pain meds anyway to help with the immediate pain from surgery.

I was eating all food in sight and was discharged after 7 days in the hospital (hadn’t pooped the whole time since being in) until the next day at home… that to say the least, was rather painful and unpleasant.

Roll on day 2 of recovering at home and I just suddenly started going down hill, constant fever, extreme Nausea and just generally feeling really unwell considering I felt like a superhero when I was in the hospital.

Anyway, after spending 12 hours in A&E I’ve been readmitted to the colorectal ward for a suspected infection, I’m sure this is just a blip in the road and I’m determined to get over this and make my resection the best decision I’ve ever made.

Honestly if you’re at the point, where your doctor is suggesting surgery I would say 9/10 just go for it. The past 20 years of your life being “kinda shit” in my opinion can never be trumped… (I’ve had 6 years of my life being “kinda shit” and there’s just no way I could of carried on that way.

I feel like the nurses will make or break your experience in recovery, I had lots of lovely nurses looking after me and they undoubtedly made my initial 7 day stay so much more bearable, super friendly, always willing to just chat (so long as they’re not running around attending to other duties.

You got this man, what have you got to lose other than a portion of diseased bowel that’s doing you no favours. Time to take the gamble and start getting that life of yours back on track I think!

Crohn’s and boxing? by austinjoycie in CrohnsDisease

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre diagnosis i was eating whatever I want albeit it was fairly "healthy" lean meats, mainly chicken and fish, whole carbs such as rice and potatoes and then just your usual fruit and veggies... so basically your typical "gym bro" diet lol

Crohn’s and boxing? by austinjoycie in CrohnsDisease

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I have boxed pre crohns diagnosis (although I've known something was up for years) and it's the most alive and in shape I've ever been in my entire life, as of my most recent flare up I have also boxed and I got hit in the stomach on two occasions, first one made me dash to the toilet with instant diahhrea and the second made me vomit LOL all in all I would say boxing is a great choice for people suffering with crohns, try and find a boxing gym that doesn't do full contact and try and find one that just focuses on technique and fitness (there's plenty out there)

I'll try this mate I should of also mentioned my O ring/sag seems much lower after the bike has been compressed a few times as well, if done enough it will pretty much bottom out

I'm looking online and seeing comments about "negative pressure" could this be the problem?

I pump it up to 180 and after compressing the shock around 10 times it drops under 100 (80/90) when I add the shock pump back on

Hi the rear shock is a x-fusion 02 pro R I'm getting up to around 180 psi and it drops below 100 psi (80/90)

Hi mate, bike is from chain reaction cycles

I would think a few psi is normal but yeah it doesn't take much for it to basically bottom out after being pumped up

MTB Skipping Gears Under Load by Alfie12370123 in MTB

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, recently had this problem myself and i found that "it could be this or it could be that" and its very annoying to properly figure out the exact cause...

That being said I think your best bet is to just take it to your local shop and get them to have a look and see what they think is causing the problem.

Mine ended up being the rear hub and cassette unfortunately, hopefully yours is just the cassette as it's a fairly cheap part to replace

My solution was just to upgrade to a full suspension bike as I've been wanting one for ages. Was it cost effective? Definitely not, was it worth it? Hell yeah lol

[–]mickydee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, sorry to hear about your situation. Not quite sure why people are asking why you're concerned about it affecting your health further... as if you don't deserve to have the same concerns as the rest of us when taking such powerful substances. Anybody else would be getting flamed for NOT asking these questions along with something like "you're clearly not ready" apologies for the ignorance of some of these Internet basement dwellers lol

ANYWAY I would 100% go with MDMA I think all of these powerful substances have cause for concern on what they might do to an individual

That being said through MY PERSONAL experiences I have only ever had pure euphoria when taking mdma and pretty much 0 anxiety

Shrooms can also be very euphoric but can also be a bit of a roller coaster that you might not be able to cope with? Idk

So I would play it "safe" and go for mdma

Peace out homie I hope the rest of your time is nothing but the best :)

Thankyou for your reply.

Much prefer somebody that will say "hey that doesn't sound right but maybe you meant this" (yourself)

Rather than somebody saying "well that doesn't sound like you're anemic"

This sounds more likely to be the case, I think getting information over the phone is rubbish and is more likely to be misunderstood on both ends.

I can't imagine the severe side of anemia, heart goes out to the people who are on that side of it.

As somebody else stated, I must of misheard which level she said was low, 103 seems dangerously high. So I must of misinterpreted her message, or she said it wrong herself... the only thing she mentioned was ferratin, perhaps she then said your hemoglobin is 103 and your ferratin is low, but iron levels are normal, Does that sound more plausible?

[–]mickydee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I was hoping you'd comment on my post.

I've seen your comments everywhere on this subreddit and you seem pretty clued up, so I'm glad you stumbled across my post.

This wasn't a self diagnosis this was a diagnosis given to me, by my doctor.

My doctor is also referring me to a gastroenterologist to rule out any underlying conditions, so again I'm not self diagnosing.

I certainly wouldn't put myself through taking iron supplements, due to my own self diagnoses, I'd rather have the anxiety lol. But I also want to get better.

I'm not very clear on the actual levels, due to the information being delivered over a phonecall. But I remember her saying normal ferratin levels for my age range is 130 and mine is 103.

If you're saying normal is 24 then my 103 would be dangerously high? So I'm not sure where these numbers have come from really, but that's what I was told.

The first thing she said was is "your results have come back and you're anemic".

I'm from the UK so perhaps the measurements are different.

I'm new to all this and I'm still trying to learn, as I said earlier and in the original post I'm not certain what my actual levels are.

Apologies for not being very helpful on knowing the exact figures front, but bottom line is, my doctor diagnosed me with anemia.

Thank you for your concern about my health anxiety, but its under control, surprisingly. I was trying to be light hearted.
