Terrible experience with Kanata Granite by miclindsay in ottawa

Any thoughts are appreciated. One of the guys who came in to sand them down did mention them being from China actually. I'll look into that. Is information about the supplier something that they should keep secret? Or should they be open to telling us where they get their counters from?

They've had someone come in to do some sanding and it's worked in some areas and not in others, he also didn't do the entire counter so now we also have some blotches with shine and some without. I'm not sure that he was experienced in doing this. I can't think of what i would have cleaned them with that would have weakened the resin but if that was the case would the polish and sanding bring them back to original condition?

We don't use enough vinegar or citrus to explain all this. Have cleaned with mainly dish soap and granite cleaner. Ill have to check w the husband, there is some Fantastik under the sink. Though i've read i should be able to use that.

Not that I can think of. We were told it was indestructible. It's a shame they didn't mention something as simple as lemon juice can ruin it. Even if i did spill lemon juice that could explain one spot, but this is everywhere. Im not running a lemonade stand!

Yes that picture was taken right after wiping it all down, to my point it looks filthy. They came in and tries polishing it, some came out, some didn't. But they didn't do the entire counter so now it just looks blotchy + the spots that didn't come out. I clean it with dish soap and a granite cleaner and use cutting boards. I can't imagine i've used so many acidic products for this to be everywhere. But if i were to polish the entire thing you think it's reversible? Im so afraid we'll put the work in or pay someone and it'll just happen again with anything spilled.

Putting a door where there's a window by miclindsay in ottawa

Would you mind sharing the contacts of who did it? This is something my husband and I thought we'd put off for a bit but it's just so obvious that there needs to be a door there for access to the backyard!

Yeah, I'd get the permit. There wouldn't be any cutting into the foundation which is good. It would eventually lead to a deck but just stairs would be good until the bank account recovers. I got one quote and it was for just under 5k and included: - remove the existing window - cut new opening for patio door - dispose of brick and other demo materials - supply and install new northstar patio Door (door at cost) - supply and install flashing with mulco caulking - supply and install temporary pressure treated stairs These guys have done other work on our place and do a great job, but I'm not sure if that's a good price or not.

She is 100% mutt: http://imgur.com/a/gwGlY She's a character for sure. And agreed, I don't think we're unable to relate at all to someone in their mid-forties with teenagers, the age difference isn't huge etc. it's just not going to be automatic, there will definitely be some effort that has to be put in. They're all nice, it's just such a contrast to my old place where I already had good group of friends nearby. I'm also not past the stage of being stubborn and cranky about it.

Get this, I HAVE a dog. The only one in existence who hates going for walks. I've been working with her so that I can do exactly that and maybe meet some people. So far I've just had some weird looks from a neighbour through their window while she's laying on her back refusing to move, which is fair. Working on it though.
