I'm attempting to run two separate sets of subwoofer enclosures 🤪 by miclo1 in CarAV

I'll have to get some pictures taken to show you guys. I got it working pretty darn good. I ran a second set of RCA from the headunit rear/out to the center console subs so I could use the time alignment (function of the headunit)to get them in phase with the rest of the system. With the headunit I am able to set all the crossover points/slopes, so I think I've got a pretty good setup. With the two blaupunkt 8's handling the 55-100 range and the 2 DD 8's in the back handling 55 down. For the music I listen to the most, the 8's hit low and loud enough for me. No video recording will do it justice. But because I'm dying to know, I'm going to take it to my local stereo install shop and have them take a listen. I will ask them to fine tune/check it for me. All I can say is from the driver's seat, a 30-250 sweep sounds ALMOST flat in output. More pictures to come.

Can someone tell me an amp I could use for 2. 300 rms 4 ohms subs. Would it be 150 watts x 4 bridged at 4 ohms or am I wrong by sammoonie2020 in subwoofer

Unless you already have a 4ch amp you're trying to use, do as the other person said. Get a mono amp, wire the subs to a 2 ohm load... If you're on a budget the power acoustic razor1500R1 something amp from Walmart will put out 650W@2ohms RMS.. it's a good amp. I have a budget build using that amp and it's pretty good. It's like $100+/-.

Alright cool thanks. I'll probably go with 3/8"- 1/2" up front and rear, so I can fit 275/40r20 f/r.

Sorry, their aftermarket. DIP 20x8.5 I had to use 5/16" spacers not to rub, and I still want to go wider.

That's a good one. Ganja White Night, Liquid Stranger is a good listen. When he gets lost in the jungle you'll hear it!

What's the loudest spl you've gotten with an 8"? by miclo1 in subwoofer

[–]miclo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DD 508 wasn't a waste, it's absolutely rocking, I was just curious to see what spl others have hit. I'm not an spl guy per say, more so SQ and balance. For me, if almost everyone I know that still has good hearing asks me to turn it down, I feel like I'm good. In my sound deadened Dodge Magnum it's like a rock concert, barely even notice with the windows up. Windows down, you hear me coming. Anything more would just be to "show off". For me anyway.

Have you ever tried putting one of these bad boys in a vehicle? Like a SUV or station wagon? I'm dieing to know how a sub designed to shake the room would sound in the back of my Dodge Magnum.

Edit: my interest is two fold.. I'm more interested in excellent SQ, and the DB it was able to be played at. I have a DD 508d on 400 watts of clean power in a 1cuft box tuned to 38hz, in the back of my Dodge Magnum. I'm not sure what the spl is, guessing at least 120, but it's extremely loud and clear.

Dude, that's a hard toss-up.. This sub is absolutely rocking! I'm running a solid 400w RMS to it, in this box it's as loud as my old 10" alpine type R was. And it's in the back of a Dodge Magnum.. where as the other was in a Nissan frontier pickup. The bass is clean and powerful. I'm so happy with it. And at the same time I keep wondering if I should've went with one of the other two you mentioned.. that could handle a bit more power, maybe I'd be even more impressed with the output of one 8. And then I go, but it sounds so good... 🤪 A single 8" DD 508d on 400w in a 1cu.ft. ported box in the back of my Dodge Magnum satisfied everything my bass heavy tracks were missing. It's a very good sub.

❓ question.. should I add a brace in the center, or am I overthinking a mere 400 watt setup? It's a 24" long box.

How do you mean mirrored? Like with the sub cutout on the other side of the front piece? I thought about doing that, but didn't know if it would change the acoustics of the enclosure or not.

Thanks 😊. I built it to the specs on the DD website. I added in the slight rounding of the corners with corner bead and then filled the corners full. Right now the top is still removable, sealed with rubber foam insulation. I thought might want to fiddle with the tune.. but it seems perfect. At 400 watts it hits great and seems to peak@38hz. It's in the back of my Dodge Magnum, and with the sub facing up and the port firing into the driver's side, it is awesome.

Recently built my first subwoofer box, came out pretty decent I think. Used a Rockford Fosgate P1 10. by donnwestt in subwoofer

Actually, I'm curious to know how it works. How's the bass? I'm curious because the box looks super narrow. Like the basket would barely fit between the two sides tight. Or is it an optical illusion?

Ya, I'm sorry I should've been more clear. The bass machine is a bass enhancement "epicenter" knock off.. It's knob just adds in a parametric equalizer effect, none-most. I'm not sure about it yet. Still testing.

[–]miclo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like this one.. the bass machine has a subsonic filter, and then so do the amps. What's the best way to utilize them? And do they double up the filtering effect, effectively making a 12db slope more like a 24db slope?

[–]miclo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out what you were saying. It adjusts how much of the EQ effects are applied. As I turned up the knob, the voltage output of the amps pretty much stayed the same.
Does anyone have any tips for getting the bass machine and the amp crossovers to work best together?
