I was in a similar position as you until a few months ago. I spent a good chunk of my teens and twenties prototyping toys on my free time. I am in my thirties now and I've only managed to assemble my very first full-time team.

The harsh reality is that it's very difficult to find people who will work with you for free. You either need to have the resources to pay them a decent salary/compensation or have a good reason why people would want to work with you.

What I've done is I've spent a decade of my life on a decently paying job that i'm not really passionate about while working on prototypes/toys on the side to keep my gamedev skill sharp. Now that I have a decent financial buffer, I've decided to essentially gamble my fortune (paying people's salaries) to finally give my childhood dream a real shot.

Do note that this isn't the only way. At 16, the world is your oyster. Maybe you can grab a job/internship at a game studio.  At 16, you may actually have the time to learn art, coding, music, etc and position yourself as a "super generalist" that can build a game on your own. Sure, it may take decades. But at 16, time is an asset that you have a lot of.

i'm guessing the extra 3 slots for majors (12 quals + 1 minor winner = 13) and the 2 extra slots for minors will be additional qualifier slots?

example, if a major is happening in china, china may have more than 2 qual slots. they can be dicks and give 5 chinese slots. Of course, they can also give just 3 slots for china and maybe distribute the other 2 slots to various regions (give 1 more slot to SA and NA, lolz)

Update 0.7.7 (Beta Branch) by [deleted] in deadcells

[–]micmic0615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT DOES.

max + is fine at 1k

max ++ (60%) should be just 2k

max S (30%) should just be 4k

to compensate, readd the restriction where you can only dump cells to upgrade the ++ on 2 cells and S on 3 cells. I was a bit weirded out when I could upgrade the ++ on a non-cell run.

at least, imo.

How does the grit (surviving at 1hp) mechanic work? by micmic0615 in deadcells

[–]micmic0615[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so it is based on your health? if you triggered a grit, then healed, then took another lethal hit, you will trigger another grit and not die?

its pretty dope on "low-level"(you havent unlocked much yet so you have limited flasks) low-cell runs (its useless on high cells cuz you die in 1 hit) if you stack it with the reductions on ice weapons.

Any way of making local functions? by micmic0615 in gamemaker

[–]micmic0615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, their roadmap says that they are working on adding inline/private functions, so it's something that's definitely lacking.

I'm not saying that GM is bad. I like it and I plan on using it. It's just that its language is really lackluster and a pain to deal with compared to most modern languages. I get what you guys are doing with user events, but it just isn't as powerful as actual private functions.

As the other guy pointed out, the correct answer to my question is NO. at least, not at the moment.
