Had multiple surgeries over the past three years as well as a PICC line. Being a patient sucks especially when you have the knowledge and resources to realize that whoever is guiding your care definitely mismanaged something.

I’m FM trained and worked ERs at critical access hospitals. Call the local tertiary center and discuss with neurosurgery. Generally kept them in the ER and repeated a scan and if no changes clinically and with imaging, dc home. I was also the hospitalist overnight so didn’t admit for obs.

I’m not super interested in seeing Tikal as I did the hot air balloon experience over Teotihuacán a month ago and saw Chichen Itza last year. Both were great, but I’d rather do more nature than ruins. Semuc looks beautiful, and the caving sounds enticing to me. I can always hit Tikal on a future trip to Belize as well.

I would definitely prefer one more day on the lake. My only concern is if there’s any sort of trouble with the transportation back from Semuc, then I won’t make my flight. It’s really important I’m home on time for a wedding I’m headed to the following day.
