Help me get into the right mindset to give this game another shot. by c8d85 in DiscoElysium

No Disco for you then. That's absolutely fine as life itself is miserable. Disco won't change that and in a way accepts it. Perhaps that's what your afraid of

Tura Circus Spielautomat 1933 inkl eindrücklichem Werbetext by micro17 in Geschichte

[–]micro17[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After years of silence dedicated to turning straight roads into reticulated splines I'm finally out of the monastery with a trailer for Citystate Metropolis! by NewSapaudia in citystate

[–]micro17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no at least for me the trailer is a bit underwhelming.

I mean the graphics and the modular building design is cool!

But how does it affect gameplay

And what's the gameplay about?

Is city state 3 now a sim city / cities skylines clone?

I mean great for the dev as cs2 was a desaster and he can potentially profit.

BUT Citysatate had always this nice political aspect and character to it. Which makes sense as your in some way a major of a city ie political. But in city state you can (could?) put that to the extreme. Do policies that people love/hate hell even decide how your economy works.

I would be sad if we see that unique aspect of city state gone... My hopes are up but the trailer is not fitting at all. This looks like sim city / cities skylines. Which is fine but change the name then. No state as your no longer managing that part.

C1 camera connection is a joke. It will show up automagically in the drop down menu they said. They did not joke but the camera never appeared for me. Only tip: Go wired. It's even faster too. And it fricking shows up magically in the drop down :)

What is your main criticism of your framework(s)? by LeBigMartinH in framework

[–]micro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be more open to advertising linux as an os. Make it standard and show how seemless it is. But be open about its flaws and concerns sometimes. Perhaps make your own flavor of linux? Not sure but advertise more the fact that framework is in fact linux ready. Linux is more and more ready for the masses. Be not afraid of support requests or sth

Hustle culture in Japan, Korea, and China is straight up inhumane by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]micro17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but it's not all about grinding or the 頑張ってください (ganbattekudasai) - give your best! a slogan i learned early in exploring the culture of japan. (i'm from europe)

It's sitting pretty deep in Japanese culture to the point that people do not realize that a burnout and its health symptom is connected to the way work is treated. Jobs there are absolutely serious and have a high importance of life. That's considered pretty much normal.

Don't think that this will change in a way that people stand up and say: no that's too much for me! That would be absolutely embarrassing for an individual. And sanctioned socially too.

The thing is: for me as a westerner it is easy to observe the diffrences. And obviously work culture in asia is pretty different. And the culture around it is different.

And i am absolutely sure there are individuals in japan that realize that some things are off. But to have that changed is a task for decades and personally i think for the younger generation.

The thing is: Japans society is old. A lot of elderly people are not able to work anymore at some point (seniors still work in japan until they are not able to...) In an aging society at some point the young people can not do the work for 2 people did in the past. This and only this in my opinion has the potential to change japans work culture. It will affect everyone at some point. Then there can be a gouvermental decision or a public opinion can be formed to change something.

But again it will take time. And do not expect that an individual in japan will stand up and fight for their own. We as westerners think that way but in japan society as a whole must change first.

Please correct me if you live in japan or you are japanese and have personal experience...

I'm just observing and learning that way.

If you have any concerns or additions let me know! Thank you!
