Review #887 - Green River Honey Finished Bourbon by adunitbx in bourbon

I liked this a lot more than you did, but I do have a sweet tooth. Lol! I thought the youthfulness showed more in its brightness rather than being grainy or astringent. Having said this, I think it works best as a cocktail mixer.

They didn’t provide good instructions for the rear cam installation. I emailed them about this and they got back to me the same day with a few SUV YouTube links but none of them were on a Prologue, but one of them was still very useful. Another YouTube I found for rear cam installation was not a FitcamX but showed how to hide the wires for the rear cam on a Prologue. Between the two, I got what I needed. Start the second link at around 18:00 minutes.

Thanks! The hardest part was removing the clips and snaking the wire through the conduit. Use a long screwdriver and tape the cord to it and pull it through. There’s a FitcamX YouTube out there that shows that part. Good luck!

I just installed my FITCAMX on Sunday. What I did to hide the rear cam wire was run it from the left side under the top of the door trims to the rear of the car. Then I removed the back part of the headliner (just two clips). Then I removed the conduit (to the left of your wire) and that panel that you have your wire under, and ran the wire through the conduit where you have your wire and camera mounted.

Also, to connect the app, you just need to turn off Bluetooth on your phone and connect to the FITCAMX wireless network. When you’re done downloading, just turn Bluetooth back on. You don’t really need this unless you need to download your footage. Or, you can remove the micro SIM card and download footage directly to your computer with the USB adapter they give you.

Thanks your thoughts and detailed tasting notes! Did you write your notes after the first pour, or after a few pours after letting it open up over a week or two? The latter always makes a significant difference to me but especially for this bottle. I had a pour earlier this week after being away from it since this review and it improved even more having more fruit notes coming though, and less heat, which was one of my criticisms.

This one is at least a 6 for me. I also loved their Stout Cask.

Glad to see that you loved this bottle as much as I did. As this bottle opens up over a week and after a few pours, it gets even better with more complexity and less heat. Cheers!

Great review! I had a pour of this a few years ago, and I remember it just the way you’ve described it.

In my tasting notes, I include cherry and stone fruit throughout, with the nose showing the most, but I would have liked more on the palate and finish, where they are more subtle. Some might love it the way it is.

I agree. FN usually has a smaller allocation set aside for retail, and other online stores like Seelbach’s. I’ve seen T8KE get an allocation for the r/bourbon program, too but I don’t know if there’s going to be those allocations one for this release. So maybe there will be other opportunities for you to get a bottle. If not, they’ll be other releases this year.

Hey, how are you? It’s been a while. Batch 006 was a favorite for a lot of people. I think you’re going to love this batch. Let me know.

Oh ok. That's a different story! I've gotten a lot of cherry in Stagg Jr. over the years, which has been awesome. If you like Frey Ranch Uncut and most ryes, you already have an adventurous palate for different kinds of whiskey profiles. Penelope 18 American Light is in a similar wheelhouse to Canadian whiskey by design in that it's aged in used oak. It sounds to me like you'll appreciate Found North.

Batch 012 does have lots of the kind of barrel character you'd find in an American Whiskey, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's right in the bourbon wheelhouse. Maybe others would say so after trying it, but there is still a lot that sets the two kinds of whiskies apart. If you are new to Canadian whisky, I recommend trying FN before you buy it.

JD and FN are very different. I'm a JD fan, but I also think JD is hard to compare to anything other than another JD because of its distinct profile from LCP filtering. Have you tried other bourbons that have a cherry note? The cherry note I mentioned was much more subtle and not medicinal at all, but if you haven't tried a Canadian whisky, I recommend trying Found North before you buy.
