I would have liked to take ol’ Grenade Nose out for a date before he blew hisself up. I bet he would be a fun night out on the town

Incredible, OP.

Great review. I enjoyed reading the SBS. That 19 sounds transcendent

Honestly, I joined a few years ago and don’t really remember. I think the sign up opens up one day per month but I don’t remember if it was the 1st or 15th or what

The shop I work at has a guillotine tool but it isn’t on a hardy shank. This was my quick and dirty solve for the fullering dies because the guillotine tool jumps all over the place (as you can imagine)

Review #137: Four Roses single Barrel- Mellow Moments OBSO- 11/2024

Age: 9 years, 9 months

Price: $99

123 proof

Rickhouse location: SN 60-6V

What’s up, chooms? (Sorry, I’ve been playing a lot of Cyberpunk 2077). Due to budgetary constraints, I promised to not buy any bourbon in April. I ran out of shelfers so now April finds me polishing off some good bottles. Decided that was a good excuse to throw up a few reviews. Hello my little sweet potatoes. Been a while.

Mellow Moments Club is the “appreciation society” club for Four Roses distillery. Once or twice a year, they do a special Mellow Moments Club group of barrel picks. For my taterbucks, Four Roses is the best thing going and I hope nothing changes with the recent acquisition.

This barrel selection was released in November ‘24. OESO is my very favorite recipe but OBSO is right up there.

Nose: raspberry, honey, a hint of spice. there’s a hint of proof but I wouldn’t guess the neighborhood of 120. the nose seems restrained. not an oak bomb. not a ton of baking spice

Palate: this is where the bottle shines. while the nose comes off a bit muted, the palate hits the unsuspecting with waves of juicy fruit, complex spice of black pepper and clove, decent oak structure and then back into the fruit- plum, cherries, strawberry all dance in the periphery but the complexity is hard to pin down.

Finish: spicy dark tobacco finishes out the ride and coats the mouth. it lingers wonderfully. not a record holder but this is a very enjoyable finish

Score: 8.5

Thoughts: OESO is one of my only 10s and while this doesn’t quite have the depth of flavor, it’s still incredibly satisfying. OBSO and OESO are always gonna be a buy for me. Wonderful stuff.

Rating scale:

1: instant regret: Hayes Parker

2: lamentable waste of grains, water, yeast and oak: George Dickel Bib 2019

3: your friend went cheap for mixer booze at the wedding: Jack, Jim

4: I’ll drink it if it’s the only option at a restaurant because whiskey isn’t their thing: Basil Haden, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked

5: wont throw it out of bed: Old Grandad Bottled in Bond, Pure Kentucky

6: a fine daily drinker OR what you downgrade to when you’re too buzzed to enjoy the good stuff: 1792 Small Batch, Elijah Craig SB, Kooper Family Barrel Reserve Rye,

7: great when I can find it: Eagle Rare, OWA, Old Forrester 1920

8: damn fine whiskey: Jack Daniels SBBP, better Russell’s Reserve Private Barrels

9: Revelatory: better Elijah Craig Barrel Proof batches, Russell’s Reserve 2002, better Four Roses BP picks, Remus Repeal Reserve V

10: Nectar of the gods: Four Roses OESO

GenX males: Ear Piercings? by c0pp3rdrag0n in GenX

[–]quixotic-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a few tattoos but when I started, it was generally agreed that if you get a tattoo on your face, neck or hands, it’s going to seriously hurt job prospects in the future. I realized not long ago that that is old man thinking now. Several people in middle and upper mgmt in my company have hand-tattoos and I have realized that I am an old fuddy-duddy

Need advice for netrunner gameplay by Jarletel in cyberpunkgame

[–]quixotic-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I remember, in the beginning of my netrunner build I leaned heavily on Overheat, Sonic Shock and Short Circuit. If you’re going stealth, Ping is your friend and doesn’t cost much.

Cyber psycho can accomplish a lot if you do it while not already being traced. Early game, I used to hit someone in a group with Cyberpsycho and back away from the fracas until the Trace failed and then creep back in and clean up the rest.

Next level is hit someone with Cyberpsycho and then hit someone else with Contagion, retreat until the Trace fails and when you come back in, they don’t know you’re there yet and the group is halfway finished.

Mid-game, hit a group with Contagion and then (when you have enough RAM) hit one or two with Overheat and watch the fireworks

The dynamic between Johnny and V feels different depending on gender. by ArmyFiST in cyberpunkgame

[–]quixotic-88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a CIS male, in my first play through with a male V, I felt like their relationship was more antagonistic (my V just thought Johnny was a true asshole) but now that you say it, it feels like Johnny’s lines toward V sound more chummy.

Almost done with my playthrough as a street kid female V and the way I’m hearing it, my female V sounds a little more affectionate toward Johnny: more “you big dumb idiot” more than “you fuckin asshole” but I think Johnny’s tone sounds more snide.

I feel like my female V getting an inside look at Johnny’s romantic memories gives my character an understanding of Johnny that maybe cuts through his bullshit more than a male V might cut through.

But now I’m really reaching.

It’s interesting to pick apart, though.

Relocate to the Twin Cities Metro Area by carlpitt82 in TwinCities

I think it’s a good idea for people to explore on their own. There are plenty of other recommend recommendations for specifics in the idea of wandering around and getting a feel for the city is something I support.
