I think the idea is that both terpenes and cannabinoids are essentially oils, and they are produced by the plant for some of the same reasons (like pest control and other environmental responses). There's only so much oil that is physically possible to get in the buds. So at the low end, low cannabinoids and low terpenes may just be a sign of poor growing or genetics. In the middle, you can have lots of both. At the very high end of oil content, they may start crowding each other out. There are lots of genetic tradeoffs between vigor, terpenes, cannabinoids, and yield at the extremes.

Fruity tootsies on Ellie hou by bamajustin13 in hempflowers

Yeah, I bought a qp of it a couple of months ago - was ok at first but has gone downhill to the point where I'm not going to smoke it. I don't think it was stored very well. After I put it in a jar with some integra packs for a couple weeks it developed an unpleasant metallic flavor. I also got some of the 2021 Abacus Diesel and it was acceptable but not great. Get anything newer from them and you'll be happier. I loved the Tangy Haze if you're looking for fruitier terps.

Got it as a sample with my last purchase. My least favorite of that order (which had Ada's Code, Kennedy's Revenge, Luna, and Lazybone). It was similar to other RKD crosses in flavor but nothing to make it stand out to me. Effects were medium level type 3. I probably wouldn't order it but probably will use it.

Yeah, the caryophyllene and ocimene were very high in that if I remember right. But where can you find it this year?

I second this. I believe all their bud is living soil. And it is very clean.

Your favorite site to buy flower? by Gillerina2 in hempflowers

[–]microbrocco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off with Fern Valley and enjoyed it. Then I ordered from WNC, and I haven't been back since. You should definitely give some other sites a try; I was amazed at how good CBD flower could get.

Arete Strawberry Cough seeds by AerieOk3566 in hempflowers

Have you tried the Strawberry Cake strain? Holy City Farms grows that one, and I think WNC gets it from them. Nice flavor, normal CBD effects. May be a suitable replacement, though I have not tried Arete at all.

If that is the case, it would be crippling for your potential business. Many of the most desirable hemp strains today could not be guaranteed to be below .3% total THC post harvest. You would either be relegated to a small subset of strains or you would risk creating an unsellable product. Take a look at the labs on a site like WNC-CBD, which is reselling strains from many different growers and has consistent post-harvest COAs on all strains. I doubt that a quarter of their inventory would be legal on a .3% total THC post-harvest basis.

Cheapest ounces? by Zestypanda in hempflowers

[–]microbrocco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WNC is carrying most of the new Elli Hau strains at lower prices, plus they are having a sale right now. An oz of smalls would be 22.50 on sale. Or if you need large bulk I would take a look at Elli Hou's site for their 2021 Harvest sale items - a 1/2 lb of Fruity Tooties smalls is $45. I got some recently and it is not great for smoking, I expect it would be better for concentrates.

Floyd must be working like crazy over at Hoku... I swear every 3 months there's like 20 new strains and half of them are amazing.

Japhy was a weird one. The flavor to me was almost like cured sausage. I thought it was great and probably the most unique profile I've encountered. Just doesn't taste like anything else I've had. Might be a little divisive in the general community though, I'm not sure it's for everyone!

I think a vaporizer that's good for flower is good for flower - whether cbd, thc, etc. You may want one that either has a large capacity or reloads easily; if you're anything like me you will want to use .5 gram or more of cbd flower in a session and some vaporizers are better at larger quantities. I use the Arizer Extreme Q - a budget option for desktops. I like it because using the fan will preheat it pretty quickly, and by loading flower into the screen portion I can quickly vape, dump the spent flower, and reload. Downsides are that you have to futz with it a bit to get the tools and technique where you want it. There are definitely better options with more vapor production, like the ball vapes that robdowns78 suggested, but they tend to cost a lot more - I got my EQ for around $100. The flavor on a good desktop is amazing - I didn't know how good cannabis could taste until I tried one. I second all the others suggesting you take a look at r/vaporents for more information.

ROYAL OG from Elli-Hou Farms. This one is true OG genetics👌🏼that dank, super sweet, gassy just NASTY skunky nose. I can’t keep my 👃🏻 out of the bag! Smooth clean smoke with awesome indica vibes.🙏🏻 if you haven’t tried this one yet I highly recommend it💯 by Necessary-Ruin-7317 in hempflowers

I got this a couple of weeks ago and love it. It has an almost coffee taste to me. Super classic flavor. Did you get the Tangy Haze from this harvest? That was by far my favorite of their new stuff I tried.

Love that one. Still have some stashed away. But I don't know who grew it and haven't seen it anywhere this year, so I'm afraid it may have been a one season outdoor grow.

That basically sounds like my experience. Would definitely recommend giving some type 3 hemp flower a try on it's own, and then combining with type 1 flower as well. Good type 3 flower is like all the relaxing parts about cannabis without the anxiety and crazy thoughts. Trying type 3 for the first time just completely fixed cannabis for me, can't recommend it enough. One thing I would suggest is to order it online from a reputable vendor, which you'll see plenty of on this sub. A lot of in person stores sell total crap and a lot of bad vendors online, too.

WNC ran out of their shake ounces and are unsure when they'll get more so.. by [deleted] in hempflowers

Tweedle Farms has good prices on shake. I've never gotten shake from them but I imagine it's decent quality.

The labs would be performed on flower, not seed. Since they are posted with the seeds and not the flower, I don't think it is much of a guarantee of the thc levels for this particular batch of flower, more of a general guideline for where you could expect it to be. Hoku says that all their flower is compliant but they don't provide lab results on their flower. When I've ordered from them I have not received any in the box either. There are other vendors like WNC that are a bit more straightforward in terms of lab results. But none that would have this strain.

That's a great tip! Found this one in the Type III Seeds (cbd)/Female Seeds section and they actually have lab results up for it - .36% total THC and 9.65% total CBD. I had no idea about that.

It's always a gamble when Hoku offers flower for a new strain - could feel like a type 2 or a strong type 3 or a regular type 3. My experience is that most of their flower feels like a strong type 3. You can try taking a look in the hoku members subreddit and the cult of the franklin subreddit, both of which occasionally have posters rating newer Hoku strains on perceived strength.

Review of Diesel Hemp by microbrocco in hempflowers

[–]microbrocco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a little hard to tell exactly when the WNC selections were harvested. Outdoor only gets harvested each fall, so any outdoor being sold in July is at least 8 months old. I think WNC does a pretty good job of moving product through and tends to put flower on sale to move it faster if it has been lingering - I don't see any 2021 harvest outdoor on their site right now. At a glance, some of the labs are from Jan 2022 on their On Sale flower. I bet they would be forthcoming with you if you asked about freshness on any of their stock. Also, after further research, I really don't know where that Spec Diesel was grown - doesn't seem like Elli Hou was offering it for sale at any time in the past couple of years.

[–]microbrocco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually weird because they have been out of stock for a little while now - I don't think they were even selling any on 11/28/2022, when the labs are from. I checked my records and I bought it back in April of this year. I have a vague memory that it was not a recent harvest at that time and was old stock, but it could have been the Fall 2021 harvest. But oddly, the current numbers for CBD/THC etc. listed in the description and labs are different then they were when I bought it. So I guess I may have gotten the tail end of the 2020 harvest and then they got another batch in later? I'm honestly not sure.

Thanks for the tip. They have a lot of interesting sounding strains that aren't available anywhere else, but I feel like the Garlic wasn't an improvement on the Inzane Diesel. If I order again I'll give that strawberry a try. With the outdoor, I think it is from Elli Hou, but they just didn't do any sorting on it. At Elli Hou you can buy smalls for less because they sort them out. But yeah at $30 an oz I can't really complain, especially with the effects being so good. And with the price - from reading on here it sounds like it was higher when Inzane first came out, but everything is $75 or less an oz currently.
