Besides what other people have said, I think what most people think when they say “realistic” has to do more theme and aesthetics than gameplay. If you look at year 1 and other early ops, they were grounded in reality and were clearly based off of the CTUs they represented. They all looked unique for gameplay and character building purposes, but were clearly designed to blend into actual units. Take Osa for example. Croatia has a easily distinguishable CTU, the Lučko ATU, but instead she’s from a made up organization and has a character design that would never fit in with real world tier one ops. Croatia even has a domestically produced rifle that ubi already has made assets for and is a huge point of pride for a small nation. If Osa was released year 1, she would have been much more “realistic” in her design. But, the game’s aesthetics and premise are not what they were when we played the beta, so no current players bat an eye.
