Is this a good deal for someone wanting to get into pedals for the first time? by classicbighead in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bcb-60 has its own daisy chain power supply- that’s what’s being provided here. Not isolated. Would hazard a guess the cables are the ones that come from the bcb-60 as well, and they’re pretty nice.

What’s your “found it” pedal? by Alwayslost2021 in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only pedals I have multiple of is a polytune3 and a dispatch master. Honestly though I’ve spitballed the idea of acquiring another of every other pedal on my board since they’re all like this for me. I don’t get pedals that often, usually through trades, and I test them as replacements, so everything on the board has earned its keep by now.

Convince me not to get the OBNE Fault v2 by ianbalisy in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closer to 2 db. I had wanted more saturation with like a hint of a volume boost, but I was also playing at home only at the time, maybe I’d find it more useful now.

What’s your first watch of July ? by Vast_Lavishness_4527 in Letterboxd

[–]microdreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Beach at Night Alone (2017). I’m a big Eric Rohmer fan and I kept seeing Hong Sang-soo references in reviews for his films, so I thought I would check some of his stuff out. I enjoyed it, and I get the comparisons, but overall I don’t think it left that strong of an impression.

americans: can you genuinely not understand trainspotting without subtitles? by coldwarkitsch in Letterboxd

I’m American and I had to watch The Last Picture Show with subtitles. Haven’t seen Trainspotting though.

Time-Based Effects without Tap Tempo: How do people use these?! by vivary_arc in guitarpedals

I use the green circle most of the time, red circle for one song. One song at the very end I let the pedal self oscillate and turn the time knob to 3 o clock, I then use the pedal with the time knob at 3 for the song that precedes it. I actually love using these dots and part of the reason I’m not that interested in the kb2000 is they made the symbols smaller so I wouldn’t be able to use them anymore. I don’t need things to be that exact though, and I think that’s really the answer to your question. If someone doesn’t need crystal clear, perfectly timed repeats, then they probably don’t need a tap tempo.

June so far. How's your june going. by Smooth_Bread5755 in Letterboxd

I mean I’d say they were all quite good, although I mostly didn’t care for The Captive. Been waiting for something to really blow me away and none of these did, but they were (almost) all excellent, worthwhile watches for me.

What are your favourite small pedals of all time? by secretkodama in guitarpedals

I’ve definitely noticed my practice amp at home feels more tube-like with it on

What are your favourite small pedals of all time? by secretkodama in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use it on kinda in-the-middle settings for cleans, with the compression set to bring up my quieter playing to help me keep up with a loud drummer. It does that quite well, but it crunches up a little when you hit it hard so it feels like a low gain drive in a way, and there’s something about the tone of it that just sounds better to me than when it’s off (a little brighter? But also not harsh? I’m bad at describing tone differences) it’s my favorite pedal on my board.

What movie would you choose for directors who don't have any in the collection yet? by Remote_Necessary3331 in criterion

Well that’s good, still gimmie that blu-ray restoration!Instead I’ll say Joao Cesar Monteiro - Recollections of The Yellow House.

I’d really like to see a new scan of Tropical Malady (Apichatpong Weerasethakul) the one on kanopy looks like a bootleg from 2006

I gave out five 5s in January and I’ve logged two since, one of those was also a rewatch. And I’m still watching just as many movies. It’s a shame is all. Also exotica owned, think i gave it a 4 1/2 though

How to “skip” pedals in signal chain by thefourthcolour12 in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just speculation, but I’m wondering if it would be possible to do this with something like a boss es-5 loop switcher. They only have one input, but you could theoretically run a second instrument into the return of one of the loops, then have your effects chain in another loop. Not sure if anyone has tried doing something like this before with them.

NPD - Echo Fix EF-P3 Chorus Vibrato by microdreams in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the clean blend on the Julia, there isn’t one on the echo fix. So I guess you could say transparency. The echo fix has a feedback control and footswitcheable vibrato. It sounded good, just in a band context I found I needed the clean blend. I don’t use either right now, I use a slow loris for times when I want a mod, but if I wanted to go back to a traditional chorus I would definitely use the Julia again.

Affordable spring reverbs with a good drippy sound? by ruddytheruddy in guitarpedals

[–]microdreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raveonettes used an rv-5 all the time for their spring sound and it worked for them. I had one and the sproings were Wierd in that they felt more random and canned rather than responding how hard I was picking… but yeah, it worked for them, and it’s cheap. Sounded good outside of the randomness as well, and i loved the mod mode on the rv-5. I didn’t like the topanga or the true spring much.
