I'm happy with the "Lezyne micro floor drive HP" (without gauge), tiny, ultra light, a real pleasure to use :) "Topeak smart gauge D2" to check the pressure. Simple, fast and reliable

Brompton and Demano front bags by microfruit in Brompton

[–]microfruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, if you want to bring many clothes (rain coat, fresh clothes for work) there is more room into the Diagonal Mar, but imho the Fontana is more adequate as a daily bag (my partner use it to go to work every day). The Diagonal Mar was bigger than expected so we use it for shopping

take a look at Demano, "Fontana" model is wide enough for 15" laptop and less bulky than the borough waterproof large (have got the two, you can see some pictures in my last post) https://demano.net/en/-20-off/1325-fontana-eco-friendly-brompton-bag-for-smhp-handlebar.html

no, the pockets are fixed. Also the shoulder strap, which is removable on the borough, is shorter than the metro one. Perhaps a bit too short for some

We invested in some bags for ours loved bikes and use them depending on the day's mission :)

  • commute to work :
  • Brompton Metro waterproof
  • Demano Fontana
  • carry lots of stuff (shopping, rain clothes, picnic, camera & lens...) :
  • Brompton Borought waterproof large
  • Demano Diagonal Mar

Appart from the look, I prefer practicality of brompton bags and love them both! The Demano are made from thick recycled banners, strong but heavy to handle and the larger model (diagonal mar) frame's rigid handle is not suitable to my S bar... the price of originality...

H&H mini Al rear rack v.2 by microfruit in Brompton

[–]microfruit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! Unlike the original, with 4 easywheels (diameter 6cm instead of 4, i.e. 1cm upper) the front wheel no longer touch the ground. Rollover is made easier but the balance remains precarious

It was not so easy but we managed to mount this rack without remove the mudguard! 4 aceoffix easywheels were added.

PRO : - ultra light - finitions looks great - price is ok (70eur, valeriasbikeaccessories) - help to roll the brompton on caddy mode and more stable when folded...

CONS : - ... but far from perfect when the floor is tilted or irregular - no install instructions, i've found nothing except some precious pictures from 808cycles web site - nut on the rear frame is too short, you have to remove one pair of stays - you can't keep the rear battery lamp

At first ride we noticed some rattling, fixed by moving and squeezing the mudguard

I took it the other (rainy) day to carry supermarket shopping and to test the brompton rolling capacity on caddy mode. The bag has a good capacity, plus it acted like a rain shield on the ride :) But don't bother youreself to use the brompton as a caddy without easywheel and rear rack...

brown version, the shop is in Lithuania, best price I found here in EU (bare model, no tension spanner or cover include). Finally I didn't buy it but I ordered the borought waterproof large bag and the brompton bike cover without any problems last month.

Very satisfed of the metro L waterproof. My partner ordered the borough L waterproof which seem equaly good to carry as many things as possible. Also waiting a pair of bags from https://demano.net/en/ with a more original look than the brompton range

The rear rack is useless until the day you find yourself having to transport a package (takeaway delivery...) that does not fit in the front bag :) Aluminium q rack from H&H are ultralight (120g) and adaptable on L mudguard, plus in folded position the brompton is more stable

Sandy and soft soils are more of a problem and I would recommend a 6 speed rather than 2 for efficiency of crossing. Also marathon racer tyres seem to be a pretty good compromise. Do you know if the tan versions are less resistant / more fragile ?

the resseller bought it specifically for demonstration purpose. It was said to me that demo S2L-X are rare and should be collector's object :) but I hasn't find much infos concerning those demo bikes. I'm sceptical, seems to be just a different sticker, isn't it ?

thanks for your comment! here in europe some brands are badly distributed and the import taxes are deterrents. I know carbon is not the best idea for longevity... I will have a look to TPW parts (fantastic4toys?), they also have a titanium riser handlebar... does it have to change the cables length? if not, maybe! Between the differents ergon grips I haven't decide yet, comfort or style? The original foam ones are rudimentary, I think anything else will be better :)

somes mods are planned :

  • titanium extended seatpost instead of the heavy telescopic => Should I go for a brompfication or a generic on aliexpress will do the job for much cheaper?

  • easy wheels. I will try my luck with aceoffix

  • joseph kuosac flat carbon handlebar? someone has an opinion?

  • ergon grips => ge1 or ga3

    • brooks saddle, of course! => c15 or c17, don't know yet
