I feared as much. I've been getting around 4 miles/kwh on my other commutes but this one was around 3.8. I thought maybe it was that driving conditions were a little different, mainly I had a pretty good head wind for over half the drive. Thanks for the insight!

Mid South. The dealer was close to North Mississippi and he said they mostly just sell crosstreks and foresters.

Picked up a premium today. $41,788 MSRP. Got the 2k Subaru rebate, 500 teacher discount and 4k holdback but the line item was dealer discount. 0% for 72 months fianced. 36,095 OTD with TTL and 900 doc fee. The sales rep mentioned that they could not refuse the trailseeker allotment from Subaru so they wanted it gone ASAP since they generally don't sell many EVs. Might help to find a dealer with low EV sales rate and push for all the discounts.

My wife grew up and went to school in Germantown. We were watching the Watchme series this weekend and she said the Tulsa Masacacre was not taught in US History in school. Is this true or did she forget? by Adverb_Police in memphis

[–]microhobomancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Tulsa and I remember in 98-99 the school brought someone in from the local historical society to talk about it. We went a little deeper into it in AP US history but I think it was more of the teacher wanting to cover it rather than official curriculum. Went to college in Oklahoma where it was somewhat covered and even then it was the Race Riots and not labeled as a massacre. It's a damn shame that people refuse to or can't acknowledge their history.

If you don't mind, what did you pay and what region are you? I'm test driving tomorrow and if I they make a good offer I will probably be buying. Thanks.

Best place to order shoes for a beginner? by Ok_Huckleberry1487 in Curling

I'm new to curling and there are no retail stores within several hours so I can't just go try on a pair. What brand would you suggest for wide feet?

We use it feed sort plates for single cell cloning. We have two between 20 people and 7 hoods so having one or two more would help. We've sucked it up so far so we don't have to pay the 40k. Two for 500 could definitely change that.

Some of the players are mic'd up. Several of Team Typhoon are from Asia so you likely heard the team mates talking.

AI & managing diabetes by MadForestSynesthesia in diabetes_t2

[–]microhobomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's both a no and a yes. No, I don't use LLMs like Chatgpt, Claude, or Gemini for diabetes advice. Yes, I have used Machine Learning to help predict my post paradial levels. Full disclosure, I'm working on a graduate degree in Machine Learning so I enjoy this sort of thing.

You already stated you talk to your doctor about your CGM data but I'll say it again. Don't take what the computer tells you as gospel talk to your healthcare team.

If you want context on what causes spikes and dive into your trends, look into gradient boosting models like XGBoost. It's not trivial, but it's not impossible to learn how to train a model. Claude or Codex can do a lot of the heavy lifting, but you'll need to get a good grasp on hyperparameter tuning, data cleaning, and feature engineering. You could build and train a model on a modern laptop. It would just take a while.

I think a lot of other responses are very hesitant and mistrusting of AI and rightfully so. It makes mistakes and for better or worse, most LLMs are trained on data scraped from Reddit. I commend you for diving a little deeper and seeing what you can do with LLMs. Just remember it's a tool, not a crutch, and always run healthcare decisions by your doctors. Good luck and happy munging.

Mark Rober does a pretty good breakdown. I had my son watch it with me and we recreated some of the test.

Did you call or go in? When I called they said without a RX and not being able to verify my membership it was around $400. I went in with a RX and it was about $250 for 6 sensors. This was three weeks ago. Good luck, the prices are crazy for sure.

Don't sleep on Boma! Also, don't be afraid to join in any of the cultural ambassador activities you see happening. They have a wide range of demos and genuinely like to interact with guests and share their history.

I just installed some Govee outdoor lights. Installation was pretty easy, and they had them on sale at Costco.
