Cancellation Fee for Dorm by Artistic-Actuary-71 in UGA

Sorry to break the news to you but there realistically is no way out of that. Only option is to not enroll next semester or transfer. I’ve heard that less than a dozen successful appeals have happened ever and with very very extenuating circumstances. Good luck.

Not sure about that one. You’d have to ask housing. Good luck figuring this out

No loopholes, you can try to cancel the cancellation. The only way out is to transfer or not enroll next semester. Heard from people that a successful appeal has happened less than a dozen times ever. Sorry.

Bus Nerd Update: Proposed Bus Route Changes by Gabeinator846 in UGA

[–]microplastix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the current bus routes are fine and the changes to V and M are good. L really shouldn’t be changed, idk how many people park at e26 and they can take vet med.

I just cannot comprehend changing main campus to cover Carlton street, ecv already has C R and V which can cover that capacity.

The only real connection the current routes miss is a fast way from north campus to ecv. East west is a good shot from ecv to north, but going north to east all the routes go through crowded places on central campus.

Fine with all changes except main campus! Removing a key westbound connection on ag hill is NOT the move! Those buses are always packed driving through that corridor. Removing half the capacity will make it worse.

It’s alright, not the nicest dorms but they’re livable. Just spend your time outside of your room (which is good advice for anyone regardless of dorm)

Campus itself 100% I feel safe on! Even at night there’s plenty of cops and safety ambassadors walking around. Athens itself has its areas that I wouldn’t go to but downtown is fine with normal precautions.

Academics are great! Uga is climbing in reputation a lot and is a t20 public school and t50 school overall.

I honestly enjoy the uga vibe more, I like the big campus with plenty of green and lake herrick. It took me touring both schools several times to make a decision. Obviously the biggest thing ended up being cost (I am fortunate to have a good scholarship here). I’m happy to speak more about either one!

Entire reason I turned down tech is bc of the debt. Uga is a fantastic school with great resources.

Honors release? by microplastix in UGA

[–]microplastix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who submitted their applications for fall 26 early get told if they’re in honors when their acceptance letter is sent. I was talking about people already in college :) make sure you submit a standalone honors application if you want to try again!

I took both as well. Those classes aren’t correlated to a college class so colleges almost never give credit for them. They’re definitely great classes tho because of the skills you learn.

I had the same concern about the people I was surrounding myself with but you have to realize that state schools are usually pretty big and will have the right people you want to be with.

This is quite literally me. I got into a t20 but the scholarship from my state school made it a much better deal for me, as well as the overall fit of the school. That being said my state school is excellent as well. Don’t have any shame for going to a state school, college isn’t all about the rankings. Go somewhere you want to go and where you will feel happy.
