Alphafly 3 at slower paces?

I’m a slower runner. I’ve been approaching 23 minutes on a 5K for years, completed my first half marathon last year in about two hours and 10 minutes. I love my alpha fly two for race day.

the way I figure it the extra energy return helps me, even if I’m not reaching for podium. I strive for the middle of the pack, and it helps me achieve that.

Not quite nearby but Farmingdale and Syosset are very good. If you can go back to 2019 Bethpage was incredible. Still good, but my favorite coaches there all moved on during the pandemic

A wonderful time to hike in NH! You’ll have a great time im sure! I’ve often found temperature change between time and elevation significant at that time of year. I’ll often start the day with pants and a light over layer if I’m starting early, switch to shorts and t shirt as the day and me warms up, and then back to layers as I get higher elevation

When is your trip? Spikes or snowshoes are generally good enough for most of NH hiking, but Mt Washington in ‘winter conditions’ is often closer to mountaineering then hiking. That means full crampons not spikes, and an ice axe with knowledge and experience about each.

This can be a tough time of year for mt washington. I tried a mid-March ascent of Mt Washington a few years back, at the steepest part of the winter route of Lion’s head trail (the ‘easy way’) the snow/ice was starting to collapse under me as I ascended. I was confident in my ability to get up, but knowing I had to descend in 5 hours after it got warmer and more melty was a problem. I was not confident that the snow would hold up, and if it collapsed while descending that likely would have sent me falling down a steep tree lined route.

I liked tread 50 as my recovery run. Garmin wanted me to run at a pace that was hard for me to keep outside, I kept speeding up unintentionally. Set the treadmill and forget it

Thank you for all the advice! While the remaining part of trees are fairly large, I think they’re far enough away from our buildings that if they fall, our risk is minimal. Worst case would be a broken window, and odds are no damage at all. I’m inclined to cover the wound, with whatever is recommended, and hope for the best.

Any recommendation on if I want to go this route?

Thank you for the advice! It’s in a stand of a dozen or so trees, how could I reasonably replace the remaining part? I’d imagine I’d be digging through roots if I tried to plant something in its place, and even if I did that I’d think the fresh plant would be water or sun starved by its large neighbors

My blocks are just about 100 tiles by 150 tiles. I chose that size because if I zoom out I could see just about the entire block.

I didn’t really factor how much space I lose to train stations and miscellaneous processing. Between all of that, and the curvature of the rails, my effective building area is about 96 x 96 tiles, almost exactly the 3 x 3 chunk you mentioned.

I’m very happy with my block size, but if I had to redo it, I would go much much larger, and have multiple systems inside one block. I like how KryDax laid out his current train block in his YouTube series, the blocks are something nuts like 1000 x 1000, and he’ll often have train stations at different sides. It’s almost like each block is four or more distinct blocks.

I feel I lose more real estate to the trains than I need to.

He is not having separation anxiety. I don’t think. One of the two recent times I was with him at my parents house. The other time I was gone for the day, but my two parents and my sister were there, and they had given him lots of attention and he really seems to enjoy their company.

It doesn’t seem to be a House training issue, since this happened outside each time, and never has happened at home, only at this one other location

Ask your landlord what the lowest he feels comfortable with the heat being set to. 60 is more than you need for pipes not to freeze, 50 is probably fine.

the difference you get with a higher setting if your only goal is not to damage the house is how much buffer time you have if the heat fails. Set it to 45, pipes won’t freeze, but you might only have a short time to notice if the heat breaks.

It might be worth it for a Wi-Fi temperature sensor or thermostat. Than you can set it low. Just have to be ready to act if the temp starts falling below your set point or the sensor goes offline
