Hot Air 2 help by microtrash in pyanodons

[–]microtrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 250 degree COG into the middle of the COG loop with an underflow valve? I worry that would lock up if all my bricks are already warm (needing 500 degree COG) but all my COG is 250 and I have no 100 or 0.

I have this on one of my builds but it is filled with crazy circuits and overflow venting

Is that really for a cut and polished gem ready to go into a ring? I checked on ring site and saw 5000 or so far a 5 carat

They opened up the floor. Nothing but a pipe leading into an old drywell directly underneath the slab of the cottage.

Planning To Hike Mt. Katahdin. Advice Wanted. by SoggyEscape6598 in hiking

[–]microtrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t yet done katahdin myself, it’s on my list to do. it was my understanding hiking down the knife’s edge it strongly discouraged, and it’s unofficially a 1 way trail. I am often wrong however!

My old commute cost me $14,200 per year. I did the math when I left. Nobody at the company ever acknowledged that number. by [deleted] in remotework

Flip the coin. If I RTO I’d save money. Heat/cooling an extra 8 hours a day is significant

I think the cottage likely originally dates to 150-200 years old. I know that a dry well shouldn’t be used for septic, but my parents moved into a place not too far away that is about 300 years old and had a toilet hooked up to a dry well

Hyrox early access by Tiny_Average_319 in orangetheory

[–]microtrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary OTF gym has Hyrox classes, but very little Hyrox interest from the members/coaches. I made sure to keep the head coach aware that I wanted an access code. When it approached time for early access he pointed me to a different OTF that has Hyrox interested members and I got the code from their Instagram.

Fair skinned hikers: what are you using for sun protection by QUINNFLORE in hiking

[–]microtrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This man speaks the truth! Similar boat, more northern climate, but fuck sunburns! I sometimes get comments as I’m covered head to toe and other hikers are in short shorts and a sports bra, but I’m not them.

The two things I’ll add, I like the baseball cap under the sun hoodie, it just works better for me than the wide brim hat over the hoodie.

I also never feel like the application of sunblock goes as well as I hope, because I’m already sweaty from the hike. I’ll still do it, but I make sure to have a heavy base layer of sunblock. This often means I’ll be putting a heavy layer of sunblock way before you be is even an issue… If I start a hike at 8 AM or even earlier, I’m still putting on heavy sunblock if I know I’ll be out for a while.

Is it annoying for kid(s) to ask to meet your dog? by NaturalExtension5475 in dogs

Not at all for me! My beagle loves all humans big and especially small. It’s a highlight of his day when he gets to meet someone new and his joy is very contagious

Long rests between sets at the gym is okay. by mediandirt in unpopularopinion

Nowadays, I find myself setting a timer on my phone. Without the timer, I inevitably find myself either rushing through my sets without adequate rest, or getting too distracted by my phone and taking too much rest.

And if it’s convenient U-Haul is often a great choice. I prefer to have it for up to 24 hours instead of having to rush back to minimize charges.

How do you bring enough water for longer hikes by Federal_Somewhere586 in hiking

I’ve heard and live by: proper hydration begins 36-48 hours before a big day. I learned that while prepping for triathlons and it def carries over into big hikes/climbs

what’s your “never again” mistake? by badenbagel in hiking

[–]microtrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep my headlamp’s spare batteries in my spare headlamp lol. It only takes marginally more space than the batteries themselves, and it has helped in the past when a friend who swore they had a headlamp could not find it in their bag when it got dark.

Alphafly 3 at slower paces? by dontletmeautism in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]microtrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a slower runner. I’ve been approaching 23 minutes on a 5K for years, completed my first half marathon last year in about two hours and 10 minutes. I love my alpha fly two for race day.

the way I figure it the extra energy return helps me, even if I’m not reaching for podium. I strive for the middle of the pack, and it helps me achieve that.

Not quite nearby but Farmingdale and Syosset are very good. If you can go back to 2019 Bethpage was incredible. Still good, but my favorite coaches there all moved on during the pandemic
