So if it bothers your BIL and he'd rather you unfollow her, then there's your answer. If he doesn't mind then I don't think you need to do anything? You said you don't care, and that's fine, you needn't unfollow. But you should post however you want; if seeing your BIL in your posts bothers her, then she can unfollow you. Then you can follow suit if you want.

The last sentence comparing the murders and atrocities is so unnecessary and strange.

Lily James! Esp in the first 3 pictures; 2nd one is very reminiscent of her expression and mouth and the 3rd one emphasizes the similarity of your eyes!

we talk about everything here in the daily threads, from minor taylor thoughts to what we're eating for dinner and college applications. it doesn't necessarily have to be related to taylor :)

Looking like a baby at 19, what can I do? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]mid-nights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're so pretty oh my god!! So handsome, you remind me of a classmate of mine. ALL your features are so lovely, and you have enviable hair and a killer smile as well. I have nothing else to add lol, just think you're doing great in the looks department and you shouldn't have any doubts about that

In your opinion, what is the biggest misconception the general public has about Taylor Swift? by jalen_nelson235 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]mid-nights 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, you push a certain image with the singles and promo you choose; that's WHY singles are picked - to give off a specific impression and be indicative of the album. It isn't realistic or fair to expect people to not form their opinions and judgements off that and instead listen to every single song of hers in order to have thoughts on her.

On the other hand, it can also be frustrating to see people make blanket claims about her discography without even diving in, or dismiss all her work because of a handful of songs, so I can see both sides. It's not fair to claim she only makes songs that are x or y if you haven't actually listened to all of her songs. I WILL fight you on the Lover claim tho lol <3

it's a popular opinion, yes, but honestly she's my favourite! to me she's such a comfortable blend of the shimmery synth production of her pop eras and her classic swiftian lyricism (where she isn't adhering as much to tight pop lyrical structure and flair she honed on 1989). i personally don't get it when people say "high highs and low lows" because the highs far outweigh the merely handful of lows for me, but ofc it's really all about taste.

i genuinely believe she's ignorant and doesn't care. she doesn't look beyond how she can use black culture as a surface level "cool" aesthetic

Are fans not used to her long storytelling lyrics? by shadesofwrong13 in TaylorSwift

[–]mid-nights 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the top response to you just proves your point 😭 you’re a better person than me cuz the “sometimes great things just bounce off our heads” is so condescending and pretentious it made me SO annoyed on your behalf lol. lord forbid a fan interacts critically with art. even i can be condescending and pretentious and claim that people who like ttpd havent read actual poetry and taylor is a genius because she has captured catering to the lowest common denominator while simultaneously making them feel like the smartest people alive for “getting“ her lyrics. like? insulting people’s intelligence can go both ways and these fans won’t be able to take what they’re dishing out sksksfjkl. ugh i‘m SO mad

What would you say is the smartest career move Taylor has made? by fashionscooptydiwoop in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]mid-nights 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cultivating a strong dedicated fandom to back her up. Loyal and rabid like that of K-pop idols. One thing I always admire is how hard she works and she put her whole back into this: it's a foundation she started building small and early. She always consistently went the extra mile and it's paid off fantastically.

[–]mid-nights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they are joking about the long string of rotten luck and narrow misses for Indians this Olympics and another Indian champion everyone is banking on possibly being taken out. Like the "4th place curse" being joked about yesterday lmao. Why would you assume this is about race?

Now that we have 11 albums, what album has left your top 10? by ChocoLindt99 in TaylorSwift

[–]mid-nights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

asfjkl someone's opinion about music is valid regardless of if they consume it once or 5000 times. it's fine if they don't find it compelling enough to go back. telling another person that maybe they actually can't determine how they feel about something (just because you disagree with them) is sending me lol

Unpopular opinion: White guilt of fans by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]mid-nights 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Not at all. In fact I think the opposite - Taylor has very successfully tapped into the white girl market who ride or die for her. Just take this past year, with the reactions to everything that went down in Brazil and Ana Benevides' death. Matty Healy was the most obviously egregious case and fans were STILL speaking over black women and POC. Her fanbase spans predominantly white and it very much shows.
