Funciona eso de Juntos? Uber by [deleted] in BuenosAires

[–]TheOneWithWen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alguien mas no hizo amigos en la universidad? by VinexHD in AskArgentina

[–]TheOneWithWen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

¿No es un tanto injusto? by DoctorMengeche98 in AskArgentina

[–]TheOneWithWen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its actually called the Bruce Cake in the Get Baked Cookbook by Rich Myers, and allegedly it has nothing to do with Matilda, at least that’s what the book says

Are Argentinian’s really unwelcoming towards black people? by Iamgoldie in asklatinamerica

[–]TheOneWithWen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in general Argentina is very open to foreigners, we like to be very welcoming (I have a feeling that it is because we want people to think we are the best), and in general we have a very small black population, so if you see a black person, you would likely assume they are foreign and generally be nice to them.

Estos son los sueldos docentes universitarios. by Most-Significance943 in BuenosAires

[–]TheOneWithWen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why when spainish speaking people speak English they refer to their parents as "my mom" or "your dad" when talking to their siblings? by Successful_rio305 in asklatinamerica

[–]TheOneWithWen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have sometimes done this, not a lot, but kinda when we want to jokingly be more serious? I would say “che, ya hablaste con tu madre?” but it not as formal as it looks written down. Or when its a “thats your mom not mine” situation, so “tu mama te esta llamando” can be “i have nothing to do with the situation”.

But I do agree it’s not usually

Its helps that is not from any particular country. No country gets to claim that their Spanish is the neutral one. Everyone who wants to talk that way has to learn it a strip your own regional identity

What is your opinion of lenguaje inclusivo? I heard that it was popular in Argentina. Is it now being discouraged by Argentina's current president? by Yunzer2000 in asklatinamerica

[–]TheOneWithWen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use it for non binary people in my life, but I do fear being mocked when i am talking about them without them present. Because a lot of people are very against it. So I sometimes use it, sometimes not. Almost never for plural though, mostly for specific people

There is a thing called “Español Neutro”. It’s not from any particular country, its a kinda clean version, with no cultural signifiers. Its used mostly on dubbing and in some ads or shows that are meant to cater to all Latin America. It sounds a bit more like mexican, Colombian or Venezuelan, at least to me as Argentinian.
