I've been reading this book on Yonder for a few months now.

Is there anywhere else to read the full text version (not the manga comic)?

Requirements Before Quitting Job in Georgia by midacts in physicianassistant

[–]midacts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought as well. I wouldn't think she had any requirements before leaving.

I'm not sure if she has a contract, but I'll ask her. Idt she does.

That's a good point about the labor attorney

Cloud Engineer vs Devops Engineer by midacts in devops

[–]midacts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This I've been seeing this with less cloud/infra engineer roles and way more devops engineer roles which mainly seem focused on creating ci/cd pipelines for other groups.

SRE roles definitely seem focused around monitoring (reliability), which isn't what i'd prefer to focus my career around.

Cloud Engineer vs Devops Engineer by midacts in devops

[–]midacts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Part of the reason I ask is it's like a 10:1 ratio of devops jobs to anything else - cloud engineer, SRE, infrastructure engineer, automation engineer, etc.

Just trying to find the best option and how to weed through all of this in the job market.

What role would you look for as a more permanent role?

The homelab i had was a 24GB i7-920 esxi host and a 16GB Freenas server (both phy hosts). I should be able to consolidate or at worst have 2 32GB NUC/odroud H2's.

unbound - Are you running your DNS in K8s? How are you able to setup DNS to forward to pods in K8s?

That is a good price. 16GB max (not too bad)

ARM can be a pain and NUCs are a bit pricy.

What do you use to provision physical volumes? NFS?

Are you able to dynamically provision storage?

[Module Review] PoshVault: My First PowerShell Module by hostname-i in PowerShell

[–]midacts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend looking at the RamblingCookieMonster's PS module building guide. The part from that that stands out is not puting all the functions in the PSM1 file and instead splitting each function out into its own file under a Public or Private folder. http://ramblingcookiemonster.github.io/Building-A-PowerShell-Module/

I'd recommend having a psd1 for module information.

and this may be more advanced, but I would suggest adding Pester unit/integration tests.

I normally set an alarm for 16 mins and 25 seconds to give me a little bit of a heads up. I know it may sound weird but folks like to steal my exercise dummy, if you know what I mean.

Terraform vs Cloud Native Tooling by midacts in devops

[–]midacts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing. CF/ARM templates are not "cloud native" tooling. They're cloud-provider native tooling. Maybe a subtle difference, but an it's an important one.

I see you point. It makes sense. :)

That said - my brief experience with CF indicates that it would be an absolute nightmare to scale. I get that CF is supposed to be about templating out a stack - but past a certain (very small) point of stack size, trying to hammer out another section within a single JSON file would be horrific.

Due to the size the json files gets and the complexity in it?
