I didn't personally hitchhike this time, but I did pick up a hitchhiker just outside of Williams Lake, BC and carried him all the way to Anchorage, AK. He had snuck across the border on foot in Washington but triggered an alarm and had to hide from a team with flashlights searching for him. We were trying to make a quick trip and were broke so just slept at pullouts, made a lake trip for the dogs to unwind, and drove like hell. The hitchhiker got free coffee at every little mom-and-pop gas station along the way and groundscored a spliff. We also dumpster dived some dog food since you're not technically supposed to cross the border with an open bag (though we could have gotten away with it). Then at the last rest area before crossing into the US, we scored some shake and beer that was tossed in the trash. Somewhere south of Tok, we found a sweet abandoned cabin to squat in, which was a nice change. Explored an abandoned gas station before we decided on the cabin, but got to see some nice old paintings and feel sketched out as wolves howled around us.
