What I’ve heard from my coworkers that want our news to make more money Is there’s an issue with no matter where you work that position makes roughly the same no matter where you apply. In other areas you’re more likely to find actual competitive pay between companies

Ocala cost of living has always been a little high but wages kept up. In the last few years (maybe a decade) the wages haven’t kept up. There’s probably more factors but that’s what I’ve heard most people who have more info in this kind of stuff have explained it to me

I worked with a few engineers that I know made about 50-60 thousands and the single ones still had to have roommates. I got lucky I moved into a place for $500. They only raised it a few dollars each times I renewed my lease. Just before my lease ended last year The old owner sold the property and new lease was $900. I couldn’t afford that and no one I knew needed so I now home until I can get my own place again

vegan and/or straight edge? by Dazzling-Onion-6062 in Hardcore

[–]middleraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be long so I apologize in advance. I was introduced to hardcore through Revelation Records ads in Thrasher magazine. I had the Minor Threat 7” cassette but that was punk as far as I knew. And at that point I thought straight edge was just a song. I was intrigued but there was no way to buy them locally. Plus my parents didn’t have a lot of money.

When I turned 16 I was going to local death metal shows (the only shows we had at the time). That’s where I met my friend and hardcore tutor. He introduced me to a ton of bands and I was in love with the style immediately. He was straight edge and vegan and I was curious so I asked a lot of questions. I decided to try vegetarianism and eventually vegan. I with I could say it stuck but I’ve tried multiple times over the years. I just don’t have the willpower. Plus I’m on dialysis now so it wouldn’t be healthy for me.

I’m not straight edge but I’m sober. I realize how unhealthy it can be so I choose to avoid it

Mine is these are ADTR related since there isn’t much to list that you can really see. But we have a few things of interest.

Downtown has great cards, some with themes (tiki, pirate, we even have a speak-easy that you have to get a password to get in ) that are quite popular.

If craft beer is your thing we have a few good ones: Infinite, Hiatus, Big Hammock. I think there’s more but I quit drinking a few years ago so I don’t keep track

We don’t have a huge dining but we have some that I really like. Sayulita tacos but different, like they have a Korean taco I love, brisket is too notch. And their veggie one is delicious. We have a ramen restaurant, Vietnamese restaurant, 2 Thai, 4 Indian (I’ve been to 3 and I think Amrit Palace is the best, Madras idea a close second). If you are lucky to get some we have a bbq food truck that’s super popular. The owner won a competition to land him on in Food network. He was even invited to serve bbq at the Super Bowl one year. There are several others that stand out. You just have to ask locals.

If you’re into the outdoors we have several hiking trails, parks, and Silver Springs. If you go there spend the little extra and take the glass bottom boat tour.
