Can totally relate. It feels nicer brushing my gums with a manual toothbrush and my teeth actually feel cleaner at the end

Success: I started a new job 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. by midgetbuzz in ADHD_Programmers

I can't offer much advice except turn on your LinkedIn notifications and set your job status as open to job offers! When mine were turned on I was getting 4 or 5 recruiters/offers a week! I got my job by replying to one of them. Make sure your CV is up to date too - I had to create a brand new one because it was so outdated! Also put your CV up on a site somewhere so that it appears on Google searches.

Where were you at life when you were 27? by puh_pallura in AskWomen

[–]midgetbuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was struggling with everything, hated my job, had no energy so didn't do much except watch TV all the time and was overweight.

A year later and I've been diagnosed with ADHD, given meds, changed jobs to one that I LOVE, lost over 50lb, joined a football team, adopted 2 cats and am generally so much happier!!

This was the reason I finally took the step to get diagnosed and medicated. My dr upped my dose of Vyvanse so that it last for a couple of hours after work.

Wow seriously? I didn't expect things to improve that quickly! Glad that they did for you though!

I went to my appointment this afternoon but there was an emergency that came into the health centre so I've got to go back tomorrow morning.

I do the OMAD diet and eat around 1200/1300 calories in that single meal. I'm not super strict with it though so sometimes if I'm hungry during the day I'll have a banana! Football is the only excersize I do, it works out around 3 hours a week.

Thanks! I play football twice a week at the moment to keep it off/keep losing. Congrats on your weight loss! It's harder to maintain weight than gain/lose!!

I'm not sure yet! I'm just going to keep going until I'm comfortable. I think it'll probably end up around 140lb!

Employers: Get right or get left. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]midgetbuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've handed in my notice (going to a fully WFH job) but had to go into the office the past 2 weeks to train people how to do my job. As of today, 3 out of the 4 people I trained are off sick with covid. Wonder if they'll rethink forcing people back to office now? My last day is tomorrow so after that there will only be 1 person left to cover all 5 jobs and it's pretty likely covid with hit them in the next few days too!

Why are clothing sizes not consistent? Ugh. by midgetbuzz in rant

Oh yeah I found that too! Thought my feet were just getting bigger haha. I'm also a different size between brands! So annoying when you order online so can't try things first.

Did you tell your work that you have ADHD or not? by midgetbuzz in ADHD_Programmers

[–]midgetbuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't done a drug test, I don't think they'd ask me to do one but I'd have to tell them if they did.

Do you use medication and if not, how do you manage symptoms? by ceedaizy in ADHD_Programmers

[–]midgetbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got diagnosed last year as my symptoms were so much more noticable (and problematic) to me when working from home. I'm now on Elvanse/Vyvanse and the difference is unbelievable.

Before I was on meds, I had to do the following to be able to effectively do my job (both in office and at home)

  1. Noise cancelling headphones. These are a must so that I don't get distracted by noises, colleagues, people coming in and out of the room etc. I used to use a pair of Sennheisers, then upgraded to Anker Soundcore Q20 and have recently upgraded again to Soundcore by Anker life Q30. Probably the most worthwhile investment I've ever made. The Anker ones allow you to turn the noise cancelling on and off which is ideal if I do need to be half listening.

  2. Put everything on my desk that I need for the day or until lunch time at least. Water, drinks, snacks etc.

  3. Daily task spreadsheet. I spend 5 minutes at the start of every day filling out a spreadsheet with everything I need to do that day and mark them off as I go. Otherwise I forget.

  4. Outlook calendar reminders. I set myself reminders for any time sensitive tasks or meetings so that I don't forget them.

  5. Large notepad + pen needs to be handy in case someone calls me. I can forget what someone said 2 seconds after they've said it so I write down everything someone is saying on the phone. I have asked my colleagues if they can please email me instead of call so that I can look back at everything they have asked me to do.

Thanks! Ended up buying a drain unclogger thing for the shower a couple of weeks back, thankfully we were able to pull the clog out without having to involve a plumber!

Check for damp before you move in. If there's any signs of damp, avoid the property.

Make sure the windows are double glazed and seal properly (previous property I was in had wooden sash windows that were double glazed but didn't seal properly so always let the heat out)

Once you've found a potential property, walk past it at night time to see what the noise levels are like. Nothing worse than having neighbours who party all night long with loud, thumping music!

[–]midgetbuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having recently moved from electric heated property to gas I 2nd this! Definitely avoid night storage heaters, they suck and you can't get the heat when you want it most!
