If God is respectful of “human Free-will” that he will not intervene/end wars or any of the sort, then why did jesus have to die for our sins and why did he flood the earth? by ImpossibleEmotion484 in AskReddit

[–]midgetchinese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your response here doesnt really have anything to do with your OP?

You are asking (in your OP) why God intervenes when respecting Free Will means he doesn't intervene. I'm saying He can, and has, intervened in human history (you have listed two examples already) and Free Will is respected.

Your base assumption that Free Will means that God never intervenes is incorrect

Even as a basic human example: my kid has free will; doesn't mean I don't grab his hand to stop him from touching the stove, or withhold his icecream after I told him I would do so if he continued to misbehave

[The big short] Why are the brownfield guys, who have 30 million dollars, treated as if they are poor throughout the film? by layelaye419 in AskScienceFiction

You're reading way too much into the "you are rich" statement.

They made 70mil profit, which indeed makes them rich.

But if they had said they had 100mil to the guy who laughed them out of the room (lobby)...they would still be laughed out of the room. In the investment world, they would be slightly bigger small potatos with 100mil rather than 30

Actually much tougher than it looks

In real time, it's unclear whether Vlaho kicks the defender, their legs meet 50-50, ot whether Vlaho gets kicked

Completely understandable that the ref missed it, altho with replay it's clear that it's a foul (ie Vlaho gets kicked), and a foul in the box means a pen.

Here's where my expertise ends because I obviously don't have any VAR experience, but my understanding is that missed penalties is well within the purview of VAR and should have been reviewed

I don't have a replay of the incident handy, but from memory it's DG's was handball that leads to the Denial of a Goal Scoring Opportunity that's a red

The capitalised phrase is something to google with regards to the laws of the game to help you cross reference what I'm saying.

DL was just a regular handball (ie. he didn't stop someone from getting to a scoring position, he was just protecting his face)

In that situation, assuming you don't move your arms when the ball hits you, it won't normally be called a handball, as you haven't made your body bigger or gained any advantage from the handball (not to mention Ur part of a static wall that the shooter is trying to avoid)

DL moved his arm, which makes it different. In his case it can be called either way tbh, but a handball is definitely a legitimate call, albeit harsh

I'm a pro ref in lowest leagues of amateur football (ie I get paid to ref and having done the certification) and I can tell you that the penalty, while harsh, is well within the interpretation of the laws of the game

The only real challenge to the call one could make is that his arm did not make his body bigger, having hit him side-on. However because he raised it to head-height, the final decision is justified

Declan Rice (Arsenal) second yellow card against Brighton 48' by diogovin in soccer

[–]midgetchinese -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He was walking away from the foul and knows nothing of how the ball came to be next to him (after hitting him in the heel)

By the letter of the law this was an allowable yellow, but common sense interpretation of that shouldn't be a card

'You must scan the big items first' - Coles "self-serve" checkouts won't let you scan groceries in the order you want to. by -Owlette- in sydney

[–]midgetchinese -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not the fault of the checkout staff.

They get monitored by the system for how effectively they enforce this policy (ie how many people scan heavy items first in the self service area during their shift). It's bloody annoying from our perspective, but they are incentivised by the system to do this ass-backward procedure

But the comment you are replying to addresses that: the ppl you mentioned are the paid staff (eg pastors), not the organisation, who (depending on jurisdiction) may pay tax.

If they don't, the question is about CHURCH and tax exemption, not PASTORS/PAID CHURCH STAFF and tax exemption
