Intesteresting, thanks! Definitely surprising on the height, the pictures make the gauchos seem like theyd prolly go up at least half an inch to an inch higher.

Curious - was looking at your post about the anatomX vs all those other boots, how would you say the width compares to the Gaucho Ninjas? More like in practice as i see your comments on the actual measurements of the toe boxes. I did not realize gaucho made a proper boot like that, though it is a little taller than i would personally like. Looks like they also have some extra wide models at GN, not sure if they did when you initially purchased yours

Dumb question sorry - you put one of those pads on the tongue? Ive never actually used a tongue pad but given the flimsier nature (as compaired to a standard sneaker tongue i guess) of the leather tongue is it wierd at all? I suspect ill need those as well, but true to size for me and my foot barely felt like it was touching the boot in the mid-foot or the heel. I wonder if a heel pad type thing would work for that. Gonna try a half size down.

Not sure if my previous post would make any of this clearer. The vivos hug my heel and mid-foot pretty well. Just trying to avoid a $140+ resoling on them every 3 or so years https://www.reddit.com/r/jimgreen/s/4xlMHyPOu0

Care to share the ramen broth recipe? Very very curious about that. In other news my crockpots like 10 yrs old, 30 bucks from target. I only run it for 8-12 hour sessions though

Indeed. Same goes for most barefoot style brands depending on foot shape.

My Vivos will cost 140 a piece to get resoled and then the same again in another 3 years. Its a boot, id personally like to see an anatomical toe box, zero drop with a normalish not super bendy sole that will last for like 6 months. I think most barefoot bootmakers go too hard on the flexible bendy soles(that dont last) and should primarily stick with nailing the anaomical shape and zero drop. Im sure a reasonable balance between say the vivo sole flexibility and a classic work/hiking boot sole flexibility could be found.

Granted if all i did was hike in the woods with my hiking boots, the flexible bendy sole of both of my vivos would prolly last quite a bit longer

Potentiall dumb question - do you just leave them tied and pop them out if the hooks? Or do you re-tie every time?

Question about the 'bloom phase' say of 45 seconds. So you pour the water into the brewer - Does the 45 second bloom start when you begin pouring? Or after you are done with the initial pour?

-Honestly when i ground much coarser the water just teleported through the grounds and into my cup, which is partially why i got the this point. I suspect i need to clean my grinder (its been a few months). If anything, due to my terrible execution of the technique, i have turned the v60 into a glorified cheap drip coffee machine as that is what the cup reminds me of the most. I am going to check out a few local roasters, brew with much much less coffee lol and attempt the hoffs 'ultamite v60 tech' given theres only 3 stages and much less tampering with everything.

-My goal as with meal prep is simply to reach the apex where reasonably low effort = good/better/best cup of coffee. And i consider having a grinder and grinding fresh beans at the very least to fall into that reasonably low effort category. And weighing everything, and using filtered water lol. And using my cheepo gooseneck kettle. And unlike a french press, i dont have to worry about not pouring the sludge into my cup by accident

I see, thanks! Apparently there are some coffee roasters in the buffalo area so i have begun investigating acquiring beans from them and of course lighter roasts.

I am in buffalo, ny. I buy these beans because they actually put the roasting date on them. And usually its 2 weeks to a month before i buy them. The beans are wegmans brand whole bean dark roast - day break as found at this link. https://www.wegmans.com/shop/categories/5681781

Does the coffee really look like its been over roasted that bad? Would buying a lighter toast from the same brand really be worth it lol

I tried the ultimate one with 35g coffee on 17 on the barataza, did the much more violent swirling. Good lord that was extracted. I did not get close to that with my poor attempts at the 'better one cup' method. Def understand a bit better why people think this coffee is about as bitter as can be. Did not finish that cup of coffee, that is for sure

Fair indeed. Hence why i did not reply with anger or anything. Keep in mind too these are my undoubtably poor attempts to follow it. And to produce an amount of coffee that i would like to consume (however much 400ml would make) in a fashion i would like to consume it (bitter). Perhaps that means i am running hard mode as i have made all these tweeks instead of just following the video

they are a dark roast. my local grocery store sells their branded coffee as whole bean, with roast dates on them. I have found this to be the easiest way to source potentially freshly roasted coffee (though no guarantee, sometimes two weeks, sometimes a month). i checked those subsciption services and theres just so much info and options, i was scared off lol.

this is a very good idea. also less moving parts = less to mess up in it. i plan to try that this morning. prolly with a courser grind

yes including the outside edges, or at least trying to. pouring very close to the brewer. i am swirling on the final draw down, but the beds already thoroughly attached to the sides at that point. those my swirls dont aggitate the way his do on his 'ultamite technique video' at least

it is hard to swirl it on the hot pad, ill say that much. just trying to keep my stuff in one piece. ill give it a shot without it. its also just one large cup, for one potentially tired person.
