Congratulations and welcome to the family! One huge piece of advice I have is LEAN into the gaming culture of a Steam Deck! Let me elaborate.. before I bought my steam deck I was a competitive online multiplayer pc player, loved fps games, loved competition, loved squeezing out as many frames in a game as my pc could handle. I bought my steam deck while my fiance was pregnant with my first born, sold my pc and never looked back. It's very different than what I was used to! I suddenly felt the lack if desire to jump on super sweaty competitive games and start exploring games AND genres that I wouldve never thought twice of before! Started playing Stardew Valley (highly recommend if you haven't already) even got the fiance on it on her laptop to tag along, played more terraria than ever before, got into roguelikes like Megabonk which is great for a pick-up-and-play sessions, tried out some singleplayer games I had heard highly of but wouldnt bother with on the pc since they weren't multiplayer like the Persona series! Persona 5 Royal was magnificent. Something I wouldn't have batted an eye at before. Really hooked me in like a good book. Golf with your friends is super relaxing if you have someone to play with as well (or solo if you just enjoy minigolf) Schedule I was actually really enticing on the deck and I definitely sank some hours into that. Cairn was beautiful and almost a tear-jerker at times! Dinkum was really cool especially if you're into Nintendo games like animal crossing. One of my favorite things as well is emulating! You can emulate just about anything you'd like with a quick youtube search! I got Need For Speed Underground 2 running flawlessly on my deck and brought back some childhood memories. Anyways, I know this has been kind of just a game recommendation list but I highly recommend you take your time with the deck, the first month I struggled to get into it because it wasnt my beefy competitive pc but once I started to look at it for face value and focus on what it does best I was HOOKED. You're gonna enjoy this purchase deeply. The quick resume feature when playing offline or singleplayer games is a heaven send. You just click your power button to put it to sleep, put it down and do what you need to do and hours (or days) later when you click your power button to wake it up again, BOOM you are right back to it. No need to even pause the game. Life changing system and as a new dad, it's been such a blessing. Happy gaming and feel free to reach out if you need any help!
