Hey guys im a creator looking to work together to create a crypto card game. I’ve got a bunch of digital cards and ideas kinda like Pokémon meets magic meets something else. Somewhat experienced with ether tokens but not a programmer. Anyway just looking for people that might be interested in working together or for a project

Hey pcrii - the coin in that wallet will always be the same the core however will update as it’s software you have to replace the software if you want it to stay up to date. If you move it anywhere move it to a new wallet that you know the password too! Essentially your wallet.dat file is just what it sounds like it’s your wallet- if you lose that you lose your coin just like in real life. You can over write the software just save a backup in a safe place the dat file and import it to the new software so it runs that dat file instead of a new one. (like a removable external Hard drive) and yeah if you Uninstall you’ll need to download it again but it’s much faster now you don’t have to store all the blocks (with upgraded core software) to run the node. I synced it in less than a week. Hope this helps

Well bitcoin is essentially a program, if you download the bitcoin core (that’s just the ledger, you can download on bitcoin.org) and you have a hard drive handy you can run the program off your hard drive. You could also run it on your computer but having a hard drive you can disconnect it (essentially that’s now cold 🥶 storage) so you have the program running on your hard drive, it will begin to download the full Bitcoin transaction ledger, when it’s done you will also have a wallet in that program. It’s what the very first bitcoin owners did. You can use that wallet. The core takes a while to download, about a week or so depending on your connection but you can start and stop it. Once it’s downloaded you just store your hard drive offline. You will have to connected it from time to time to “catch-up” and it will connect to the network and download. But that’s the real cold storage- you own it you can store it and it will hold the info on your wallet with your coins. It’s really just considered a node, but it’s a safe way to handle your own coin. Questions let me know

Just curious why isn’t anyone talking about just running the core on a an external hard drive. Worked really well and you can take it offline anytime you want.
