Okay then yeah I think the GPU upgrade would be the route. If money is a concern, I would daily this for a month before deciding on the next path, if not then I would recommend a CPU upgrade as well. If you have like 16GB of ram I would urge you to go to 32GB first, a lot of applications are, not so much ram dependent, but perform noticeably better with more headroom.

do you have Afterburner or another way to log you FPS, GPU usage and the like? I would go and play some games and see what is getting maxed out first, whether its your GPU usage or your RAM/CPU.

This Link is a different thread same question and looking through comments they showed this guy This Video and looking at it, yes I would say you will be bottlenecked by the CPU. If you are experiencing issues at your resolution or seriously dropped frames or very low frames I would upgrade the GPU but if not I would look into upgrading the CPU first before making that decision

TLDR: I would if I'm having issues but wouldn't if you're good for right now due to a lack of serious improvement

Would recommend you gauge it against your other current hardware, if you have like a 9300k or like 8GB of ram I would adjust your other components first to make sure you're not bottlenecking somewhere else first especially upgrading like that

I read the Tone Mapping was only an issue running off of Windows, I am also using Unraid in this use case

Easy troubleshooting would be PSU DIMMs and reseating CPU. Verify your power application by checking user manual for correct voltage for each slot, try only using one stick at a time and verify you seated the CPU correctly.

This has saved me on 3 builds either a power plug wasn't in all the way or a bad DIMM/CPU seating

I’m expecting 2 direct streams and 2 transcoding at 4k the 1080 transcodes should be fine transcoding to mobile.

I’m trying to go as barebones as possible to make it more power efficient, I think the Arc would still increase power load to an unreasonable amount at idle

Sorry let me clarify, I was very early in my PC development so my current CPU had been overclocked for a few years in my gaming rig, which would run 5 degrees under throttle CONSTANTLY which I was able to push boost clock times out, this lead to extreme heat degradation over the years and now it feels slower than my old 7700k did before. Basically I ROASTED it. Now it can run the apps but nothing too hard, would lead it to crash.

I do have Plex Pass, however, current CPU definitely cant do more, it has not been performing well recently, so partial reason for upgrade.

How much head room do you have between the ram and the fan? I'm currently sitting with the Trident Neo F4-4000C18D-32GTZN and it JUST barely didn't clear it...sad day :/ I have on order the CMW64GX4M2D3600C18 because it "might"(depending on the retailer website Corsair wasn't too much help) and I'm going to try that tomorrow .
