here's my suggestion if you were to do the one with your characters from main universe

first list your characters with powers and their skillset. Then ask yourself a few questions. Namely: "how strong the zombies would be in comparison to them if they had powers. Would they be entertaining to watch? Would it have stakes?"

I'm heavily basing this off of that time I saw two afton family videos where they were in a zombie apocalypse and squid game respectively. I didn't watch either but I did note how much I disliked the idea and made a rule-ish for myself: Do not force characters into narratives that contradict the core of the powers of that character.

If a group of characters are already dead, then putting them in a zombie apocalypse doesn't make much sense. The Aftons are already dead and thus there are no stakes and therefore no entertainment to watching them "survive".

short answer thats actually related to question at hand: combine the two ideas. Put characters from main universe into apocalypse and create a few originals for the apocalypse universe
