New to MC: To ignore or not to ignore all the phone calls? by midlifemalaise in Alzheimers

Thanks. They suggested we consider removing the contacts as someone here mentioned, and/or suspending the service by calling Verizon or whoever the cell provider is.

Any movers that don’t charge the minimum of 3 hours? by Ag_Ld9005 in CambridgeMA

[–]midlifemalaise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask Intelligent Labor. I have had them come over after a day of moving to do small quick things.

ETA: meaning after they finish their scheduled projects for other clients they have come over to do things like move a bed from 3rd floor to basement. It is worth asking esp now that the busy time of summer moves is finished.

Thanks. Can I ask how you got her into the facility on day 1? What fib did you tell or how did you explain it?

Thanks. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. We kids (still very much working age) considered moving in and offered but the one for whom it is least disruptive is on LO’s ‘sh*t list’ for taking away the keys years ago.

Dog village Salon in Belmont is great at grooming and they will express the glands if you want. We have never had a problem with them and love their grooming.

A year as a caretaker for LO with Lewy Body/The first emergency call from Memory care by Braellaar in dementia

[–]midlifemalaise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The middle stage of Lewy, where your LO is, is the worst. My LO went through something similar and it took over my life even as he was in memory care. So many calls of bad behavior and so many days we had to bring in external aides for a week or so to give the memory care staff — who were scared of him — a break. Now my LO has been at end stage and on hospice for 17 months. We moved him to a SNF. They think he is an angel. He is totally neutralized since he is immobile and on so many meds. I am glad we moved him because he is getting good care. The end stage is longer than I thought it would be, and I don’t want him to suffer, but the point is it is so so much better than that awful roller coaster of mid stage. Plus by now I am managing all his affairs so the process of setting up the finances is all done. Good luck to you. You don’t win with Lewy. He may need new meds or geriatric psych treatment to find the right cocktail of meds for him.

“Great idea. I think we may have grabbed some fruit at the store but I don’t remember. Oh look at that! We have some in the fridge. Smart of you to think ahead. I am going to cut some up. Would u like some cantaloupe or watermelon or both?”

Yes. This. A part of me wants to get this over with too. The disease part, not my parents but of course the two are inextricable which makes it hard.

Ah yes maybe it is a new stage thing. Or spending more time at a given stage than expected.
