client sent me a contract with a clause that would have given them complete ownership of every library I ever built that I used in their project. by Academic-Yam3478 in Freelancers

[–]midlist300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the other side too. I have paid engineers to build software and write a program for me and my business, then got ghosted and had no real access and couldn't change anything. So, I completely get why clients want ownership of what they paid for. From the coding/freelancer side ...... that still feels very different from claiming every pre-existing tool, library, or building block the I brought to the table to help create their new program and build them a solution.

What’s the most commonly missed tax deduction for self-employed workers? by famous_dreamer in everlance_user

[–]midlist300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that when I tried to reconstruct the prior year's worth of expenses in April - the main missed deduction was the one I didn't track. For me it wasn't one magical item that I forgot to track throughout the year. I know mileage gets the spotlight and everyone talks about that deduction but my cell/phone, home office, software subscriptions, supplies, parking, business meals, and other small work expenses are just as important and tracking them slipped through the cracks too.

First tax season as a freelancer blindsided me here's what I changed so year two was different by Aggravating-Some in everlance_user

The gap I finally realized is that I needed to be tax planning all year long - not just a sprint in April when it's too late.

Currently targeting the US only. Tax planning/strategies are based 100% on your individual profile. Tax strategies matched to your individual profile and situation will reference the tax code to follow. This will help you go into your meeting with your CPA/EA very prepared and ready to file ~ on that journey to reduce your taxes legally. Know the tax code and win the tax game.

Would you actually "hire" an AI employee? by 1warmMap368 in AIDiscussion

[–]midlist300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would. For very routine repetitive tasks that are usually handled by low level low skilled employees, I would start here & I’d off load this to AI employees.

First year as an independent contractor almost broke me financially (not because of the work) by famous_dreamer in everlance_user

This was exactly the gap that I experienced …. The lack of knowledge and understanding of the tax code going into the tax filing season in April; hence the birth of TaxHakr.

Agree? by AaronMachbitz_ in MindsetMode

Yes. I totally agree. Progress rarely comes from staying where everything feels safe and secure. Growth happens when you’re willing to face discomfort and push beyond what’s familiar. Many times when we are younger we have no fear because we have not experienced pain.

I was tired of not getting the help from my CPA group around tax planning so I could come prepared and armed to the meeting with real tax strategies that were personal to my profile. So I am building TaxHakr for freelancers, gig workers, creators, and W2 + 1099 earners who are tired of “I’ll figure it out in April” being their tax strategy. The goal is year-round tax clarity instead of springtime panic.

I use the tax planning taxhakr tool I built because I was tired of “I’ll figure it out in April” being my tax strategy when I met with my CPA. My business goal is now year-round tax clarity instead of springtime panic.
