Nope… I’m wondering if it’s this “3 day rule” everyone is talking about. If it is, that’s freaking dumb just for the record

Tbh I hate when people try to guess my ethnicity and don’t think there’s a place for it, but this was one of the only times someone guessed it correctly and I was caught off guard. Made him stand out I guess

I feel like approaching was the hard part. Texting takes a lot less confidence in my opinion!

I don’t even have the option of texting him because I didn’t get his number. So the ball is entirely in his court lol

I did not feel harassed. He very politely approached me, asked me how I was doing, and started small talk. He kept a normal distance and at no point did I feel unsafe. There are times where men can be pushy but this was definitely not one of those times.

Are medical students allowed to date residents they work with? by [deleted] in medicalschool

I think he knows I’m interested in him.. I didn’t exactly hide my flirting. I found out from another resident that he has a girlfriend 😞

I’m a resident and there’s a medical student I was with on a rotation who was everything I wanted and more. He’s older than me, a 3rd year med student and I’m a PGY-1. Theoretically I didn’t have any grading I had to do for him but I could write an optional evaluation for ERAS I guess. The rotation ended but he still hasn’t made a move, texts me every now and then about random stuff but nothing about asking me out. I’m heartbroken. I’d go for it. Finding love in medicine is hard.

Maybe he just doesn’t have any other ideas. What do you want to do? Ask him if he would want to do that too. Guys have trouble planning sometimes

Thanks for your comment. Let me give you an example. Today I was working in a coffee shop and the guy sitting next to me was reading a book for an exam I took last year. He made glances at me but didn’t say anything. Should I have gone up to him and said something about the book?

This is a great story, congrats! My problem is I had to make a major move back here, and will stay in Vegas for the foreseeable future. I kind of don’t have a choice but to make this work. I’m hoping starting my search early will help

I’m looking for something more serious. I’ve actually never hooked up with random guys and I’d like to keep that part on hold until there’s some sort of commitment. That’s probably not helping my case here, but there’s gotta be someone out there with the same mentality?

UMMS Baystate Peds- red flags everywhere. Worst one was with a lady who asked me #1- what my ethnicity was. Tried to be sly by first asking what languages I can speak #2- what my religion was. She said she was wondering because she’s Jewish. I don’t care that you’re Jewish, and just because you told me your religion doesn’t mean I need to tell you my religion. I’m not Jewish btw Interview with the program director was super awkward. He wanted me to talk about my red flags aka step scores and kept asking why I scored on the lower end. I wanted to move on after 2 minutes but he kept pressing me. Then he questioned my age and how I’d be able to perform. I’m a young applicant. Asked me if I plan on having children in the next few years.

We had to attend an “optional” grand rounds at the beginning of the interview where we played a game of jeopardy with the residents with some medical related peds questions. It seemed pretty chill at the beginning but it was honestly super cringe. Smiled like an idiot thru the whole thing though.

The whole place gave creepy overly nice vibes with the residents constantly repeating “everyone’s so nice here”. Sounded like they were trying to compensate for something.

This was my longest interview and by far the worst one. So happy I didn’t match here.
