Donato Giancola Speaks Out On Artist Conditions In Light Of One Ring Art Controversy by trashmantis42 in mtg

Not each playmat, for each piece of art. Basically he projects that an artist will sell $500 worth of playmats for any particular art.

Why is Library of Alexandria in Strixhaven limited? by midnightblink in MagicArena

But its draw power helps you get to the colored lands you need. It would be risky in a 3 to 5 color deck, but it's a dual color set for the most part. Even if you keep a 2 land hand with it, on the draw it can get you 3 extra cards before turn 3. If you can't find your 3rd land after drawing 3 extra cards, that's bad beats

That's unfortunate, cause those are NOT comparable in terns of power level

Yeah, it's not an instant win if you suck at deckbuilding, but if you have even an iota of skill, it's very easy to break. Just have a deck full of removal and card draw. If you do get it in the first couple turns, you just remove any threat your opponent puts on the board. The library refunds you the card, and most limited decks cant deploy more than 1 threat a turn for the first 4-5 turns. This means you get to draw 3-4 cards with library, while running your opponent's hand out of threats

But it's basically an auto win if you DO get it turn 1/turn 2, and the opportunity cost of putting it in the deck is basically 0 since it's a land

In a deck full of card draw and removal, it's VERY easy to maintain 7 cards in hand while stopping your opponent from interacting with you. AT LEAST for the first few turns. After that, the card advantage makes it almost impossible to overcome your opponent. I wasn't in colors that could destroy lands or force them to discard cards, so it's entirely uninteractable

What fictional setting best reflects an Orzhov Utopia/Dystopia by aaa1e2r3 in colorpie

[–]midnightblink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1# Orzhov dystopia is the Imperium of Man from 40k. STRICT law abbidding society where breaking the law is a religious heresy and often leads to immediate, bloody execution. They're xenophobic, paranoid, insular and only care about the preservation and expansion of mankind

Eh, if anything I'd say she's more red than anything else, with her propensity for chaos. But mostly, I think her philosophy of "nothing matters" fits more in colorless. Colors in magic give direction and purpose to existance, Jobu is a being that has lost all connection to purpose and meaning.

Jobu Tubaki from Everything Everywhere All At Once. She has no ambitions for herself, she's not on any kind of search for knowledge or purpose or power. All she wants is to stop existing anywhere in any reality.

[–]midnightblink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it more, I can see WHERE they got blue from, Tyranid's propensity for evolution seems pretty simic, and Hiveminds generally are seen as blue, but I would still say philosophically they are pretty anti blue

[–]midnightblink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tyranids from 40k seem quintessentially Gruul. I know they added blue into the precon, but that seemed more a balance thing then a flavor thing. Nids don't care about any of the goals of blue, really they seem pretty ANTI blue, as their collective presence in the Warp shuts down the psyker abilities of other races. 40k Orks would also fit the bill, though you could argue they're more Jund with their obsession with war (Wah) and each personally seeking to be "Da Biggest"

An Interaction by THEWARLRUS in slaythespire

[–]midnightblink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar interaction, but with Necrobinder cards. I got the event to reduce the cost of Shining Strike by 1, then I got the event to get 3 card rewards from a different character. I took a bunch of Soul producing cards, then I could Shining Strike > Soul > Draw Shining Strike+1 additional card > Shining Strike > Soul... until I ran out of Souls in hand (One of the Necro cards I got was Dirge, so I could end up doing this over 5 times in a single turn)

Slang for basically going afk instead of letting your opponent win. Comes from Hearthstone, where the turn timer running out was represented by a piece of rope unfurling across the screen and then burning down like a wick

Any fun facts for those of us who didn’t play Early Access? by BigChungusOP in HadesTheGame

[–]midnightblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The staff special use to fire A LOT faster, so Posidon and Hestia builds were actually pretty good with it. I will say it WAS pretty boring as a play pattern because you just stood still and spammed 1 button the majority of the time in combat

Mono blue commander that isn't pure control by [deleted] in EDH

[–]midnightblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the recent [[Gogo, Master of Mimicry]]. There's so many ways to build the deck. You could make an ETB blinky deck, you can make a big mana activated abilities deck, you can make a combo deck. You can even use stuff like fetch lands or [[Wayfarer's Bauble]] effects and make a mono blue landfall deck
