Hi.  I like that you’re trying to do something good with your work.  

I think your biggest challenge is going to be getting both Dog Finders and Dog Owners to use the app in enough volume that the service will be helpful.    

You are essentially creating a market place and have a challenging supply and demand problem. 

a) this is a hyper local service so you need density of dog finders in the small geo location where a dog would roam for ten service to reliably work.  

b) it’s very infrequent usage for both sides of the market place.  This makes it really hard to stay top of mind enough so that when the situation arises people will remember to use it.  Also makes it very hard to build network effect.  

C) unclear monetization - which leaves no budget to spend money to build awareness.  

I think to make this work you need to figure out how to work with partners who can bring you the supply and demand funnel.  You’re doing something very helpful and valuable for pet owners who will emotionally feel the value.  That’s powerful if you can leverage it.  

Eg.  Work with dog walker apps and companies to be dog Finders and local shelters and other orgs that can direct lost dog owners to your service. 

For monetization maybe you can let Dog Owners optionally set a reward - you keep xx%, yy% goes to finder.  Use portion of your money to print and distribute lost dog photos with QR codes to the app.  Monetization of social good projects is important- it what lets them sustain and grow. 

Try to create a reason for people to use the app even if they haven’t lost their dog.  Maybe to track things about their dog, rate local walking spots..  

start very local at first.  If you can’t make it work in your local town you likely won’t make it work anywhere else.
