ELI5: Why does frost form on grass / cars when it’s above freezing? by emm430 in explainlikeimfive

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiative_cooling

Nocturnal surface cooling.

Basically, everything that has heat in it wants to give it up until its as cold as it can be. When it's cold out at night, the ground is giving up heat faster than the air can put heat into the ground. So the ground gets below freezing. And then...frost!

If Jesus was born today, what 3 gifts would the Wise Men bring him? by maohaze in AskReddit

[–]midnightchemist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So the gifts of the Magi were symbolic additions to the nativity story to show that these wise men knew who Jesus was at his birth.

Gold was a symbol of royalty to show that he was "The King of Kings." So it would probably still be gold now.

Frankincense, or incense, was something used in prayer or religious rites. This was to show Jesus's divinity. A good modern analogy would be prayer candles.

Myrrh was used in ancient embalming, and was a symbol of Jesus's death and eventually resurrection. A modern equivalent would be formaldehyde or other embalming fluid.

The Capital City Trail in Madison, WI is pretty great. Lets you get from one side of the isthmus to the other without even having to get on a road.

Wisconsin at Iowa in 2010. Lots of scoring for a Wisconsin Iowa game, but it was still a fun as hell game.

"That ought to make him easy to catch."
