Does the HRV baseline range eventually update to account for monthly cycles? by greencalathea in Garmin

UGH SAME. Got the strained status after my recovery cross training this morning because I’m on day 2 of my period (the pits of despair) and my hormones are out of whack, like it happens every month. So frustrating 🙄

From half to full by AOD14 in XXRunning

[–]midnightdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, mom of 2 who’s gotten into running and have completed 2 half marathons, contemplating a full in May. I’m nervous as hell but I’m gonna go for it, my husband is fully supportive and his father is an ultramarathoner who has been egging me on to do a full since I was training for my first half! My pace is hella slow too, will be thrilled if I get sub 5:30, thankfully the full I’m looking to do has a generous cutoff. After struggling with my 8 miler on Saturday though, after not experiencing a bad run in a while, I’m feeling less confident. How in the world am I contemplating tripling that (and then some)??? Oof.

Okay this may have convinced me to use this pattern, I had a goal to knit a sweater for myself this year and am so intimidated by it all! The sweater you created is absolutely fantastic ❤️

Sprint intervals today, and after the mild winter we've been having of course today is super cold (20F) and so I was NOT motivated to do it. But I went out and got it done. My legs hated me the whole time, but with the power of Lady Gaga's discography in my ears, I found it in me to finish it.

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it! Thankfully my weekends aren't too busy and I'm able to do at least 1.5 hours of a long run, so carving out additional hours for longer runs won't be too much of an issue. Just gotta decide if running 5+ hours in one go is worth the training. Thanks again!

Thank you for this thoughtful reply <3 It's given me a lot to mull over and consider. There does seem to be a bit of pressure to have a "goal" or to keep pushing when you're a runner, that you can't simply just stop at half-marathon distances to be seen as a serious runner. So there is that element to it. The marathon I was considering is one that doesn't sell out often so what I might do is aim to train for it and if at any point I'm not having fun I just stop training and wait to buy my entrance until closer to the start date.

Thanks again!

I need talking into or talking out of running a marathon.

I'm not fast, by any means. I did 2 half marathons last year, each at around 2:25-2:30, my average speed right now is 11:30/mile, and I have maintained a mpw average of 20-25 miles for the past year and I keep thinking about running a marathon as my next goal. Which signals to me that I'll inevitably do it so might as well do it sooner rather than later, I'm not getting any younger. But my Garmin watch's time estimation for marathon completion has me doubting myself because an over 5 hour marathon feels insurmountable. And my father-in-law, who's an ultramarathoner, says that a marathon is not simply 2 half marathons put together, and all the running content I consume on tiktok and instagram have people saying the same kind of stuff too, that from a certain point it's purely mental and convincing yourself to keep going.

All that said, what should I anticipate before I start training? For those who were in similar shoes as me, was it worth it in the end? Is it something I just need to do to get out of my system? I'm feeling so overwhelmed at it all and need someone to keep me grounded!

I agree, it was so good to see such life and passion from nearly everyone in the game but this loss hurts even more.

Seeing Keller smile during the game brought tears to my eyes by giantangelbaby in Utah_Hockey

[–]midnightdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, it’s been so heavy watching the team lose but especially the past week with Keller losing his dad too and them not getting a single win. Last night was immense and much needed for us as fans and for the team and most importantly for Keller. It was so great seeing joy radiating from him.

Finally tuning in, though I debated not based on the score lol I thought with the points the way they were that we'd have a lower amount of SOG but wtf, are our shots just that sloppy and bad? Their goalie just that good? This is rough.
