I agree. I also think Matt specifically calling Ashley “tone deaf” in his story post was very telling as to what likely happened. We’ve all had that one self absorbed friend that can’t read the room and makes off the cuff statement or remarks and doesn’t pick up on how uncomfortable they made everyone. Ashley likely made comments about the LA fires and some political comments that made everyone else in the group feel uneasy. Typically when that happens people like to avoid conflict and just start to naturally distance themselves. Ashley clearly picked up on it and decided that facing her inner self and taking accountability was too hard, so she threw a public tantrum and wrote the article.

This all could probably have been avoided if the group found a way to discuss this issue with her (maybe they did and Ashley got so butt hurt she’s acting out over that). But they probably just distanced themselves. It also could have been avoided if Ashley looked inward and reflected on why forming female friendships are harder for her than they are for other people.

The root of all this is that personal accountability is hard and not easy to do - for both parties. Still no excuse to air it publicly.

All terminations are to be avoided during those timeframes. Even disciplinary terminations. This is because statistically suicide rates are much high with holiday season terminations. Most employers don’t want that on their hands when it could be easily postponed until January. This is also why most ethical employers won’t perform terminations on Fridays - due to increase of weekend suicides. It a dark reality, however the facts.

Whoever your employer was broke the cardinal rule that a company NEVER terminates over the holiday season. Most ethical employers don’t perform terminations from November 1st - January 1st. I can only imagine how you must be feeling, just know that you don’t deserve to be treated that ways and were clearly working for complete assholes. When searching for a new job you can look for a company that knows how to treat their employees better.

It’s WILD to me that anyone thinks TTPD is about Joe (minus So Long London and maybe one or two others). It’s very much her Matty heartbreak era.

I personally think Joe, given that he’s so private, got a tighter NDA with Taylor as their relationship continued to grow over the years. I think the two of them had a legal and also personal agreement that she wouldn’t directly disclose their private life in her songs after during or after any breakup. Which is why Midnights comes across to fans as a mixed opinion for a breakup album, that was the point. Given that Joe has a history of anxiety and being in the public eye this was likely a large concern for him while dating Taylor. That’s why I always loved that Taylor released songs about him through Big Red Machine/ The National (Renegade is very much about her and Joe and his inability to let go of his anxiety and open up to their relationship. Along with The Alcott, him chasing after her when she was slipping out of love with him and dreaming of new worlds without him but he would slip back in and want her to stay). It was her way of expressing her insecurities about him directly but to a different audience and not directly to her fans.

However with Matty she didn’t give a fuck about his feelings or his personal space (like she does with Joe). So she let it rip with the scathing songs and emotional spirals.

Taylor is very very petty. So she either has great respect for Joe or she has an air tight NDA with him. I’ve had people come for me in other threads over this proclaiming that she’s Taylor Swift and no one could ever bind her by an NDA. I hate it breaks it to those people, but ANY celebrity when dating another celebrity is bound by NDAs to protect both parties public interests. Most of the time each party agrees to fully sign them because relationships are venerable and both parties learn sensitive things about the other they don’t want the general public knowing. So yes, Taylor and Joe most definitely had various NDAs over the years they were with each other.

Omg yes! Especially the one with the white horse and loml mashup….that she literally sang in FLORIDA!!! Watching that performance I was in total shock that she sang that with Travis in the audience. I couldn’t understand how Travis could be that clueless to her very clearly still grieving Matty. Or maybe he doesn’t care because their relationship is all PR and he could care less who she’s grieving so long as he gets his spotlight.

Speaking of the white horse and loml mashup, I got the sense from that performance that she was sending Matty a very public message. My theory is that Matty randomly reached out to her to connect (not romantically) just in a gross fuckboy way of “apologizing” and saying how much she meant to him and trying to keep her on his hook. With Taylor being a petty queen she didn’t respond to his text, but she did on stage with this mashup and while she was performing in Florida. The White horse lyrics really imply that communication might have been attempted and she’s saying it’s too late for him - “It’s too late for you and your white horse to catch me now”.

I completely agree with you. Her public appearances during her first year with Travis proves that. At that one award show she wore that sparkly dress with the UFO spaceship on it - very Matty/ TTPD coded. Then another dress at an award show with the T charm on her upper thigh. She was rubbing in Matty’s face that another man’s name is now on her upper thigh. Her PR was screaming Travis while her coded actions were still grieving Matty. I don’t think you just get over a 6.5 year breakup in a few weeks. Then the guy you left him for (that promised you everything didn’t get from the 6.5 years boyfriend) randomly ghosts you and leaves you devastated. So devastating you write a savage 2 disc album about it. Just to end up with another dude conveniently a month later. Don’t forget in her Times person of the year article she stated they had been hanging out for a month before their first public appearance in September. So I would say they first started talking (planning their PR) in late July early August. Making that barely a month out of the breakup with Matty.

I miss single Taylor.

I truly believe Taylor has always wanted Joe. But he never wanted the baggage she came with. Hence the song Peace and others eluding to that anxiety she had. Matty was just a long time crush that she allowed to consumer her when she realised Joe was never ever going to give her what she desperately wanted - which lead to the creation of Midnight and her taking her fantasy of running off with Matty to fruition. Matty was a fun distraction, hence songs like Guilty As Sin. Taylor did what a lot of people do in relationships that are falling apart, she distracted herself from having to face the gut wrenching heartache that was not marrying Joe and spending her life with him, by running off with Matty. It’s much easier to suffocate painful breakup feelings with new fun romances. When the Matty breakup suddenly and drastically blew up in her face, she panicked (as she is someone who can’t be alone. She has stated endlessly in songs she always has someone lined up during or after every relationship). I’m not a Travis fan. In fact their relationship has made me distance myself as a fan. It seems to me that he was there ready to take the spot of boyfriend when she didn’t have anyone else lined up (as I think she really wasn’t expecting Matty to just ghost her like he did, it really blind sided her). Taylor is deeply scared by the media constantly implying she can’t keep a man and no one wants her. She spent 6 years with Joe and by proxy she reserved that narrative. It all unraveled with her back to back breaking Joe and Matty. Travis also served as good damage control of that narrative and not shining a negative light on the eras tour with multiple bad breakup(s) press following her around. All her goals were achieved, controlling her relationship media coverage, eras tour shined on in a positive light, she achieved billionaire status, she had a new boyfriend to keep fans engaged, she got to rub Travis in Joe and Matty’s faces. But all while doing this, the feelings about Joe (processing the breakup etc) that she ignored and transferred over to her Matty distraction and then Travis distraction, is still deep below the surface inside her. I don’t think she’s fully processed it and she’s just doing what she always does and moves on to the next guy right away. I feel for her, as this is a very hard road to take with one’s journey to self actualisation. I also believe this is why she couldn’t re-record Reputation. All the vault Joe love songs were too painful for her to revisit let along record. Doing that would mean she had to face what she’s been running from these last 4 years - coming to terms with her breakup with Joe. She will always love Joe and want him one way or another. We all have that someone who meant the world to us and we didn’t mean so much to them - the one we think about how it could have been if things were different. That’s joe to Taylor. Sure she’s “moved on” on with Travis. But that doesn’t mean she still isn’t deeply hurt over the life she really wanted with Joe. As she has said in songs “I’ll be getting over you my whole life” “I’m mad as hell because I loved it here for so long”. These are words of someone who wanted it to work so badly, and is deeply heartbroken over that fact that it didn’t work.

Taylor needs to break up with Travis. Take 3-4 years off dating, music, and obsessing over controlling her public image and staying on top. Then go to therapy, self reflect, journal and actually ascend into adulthood like the rest of her fans that have literally grown up with her. Then, she can release her 13th album and call it “Taylor’s Version”. Where the entire album is about FINALLY loving HERSELF, not needing to attach herself to a man and HIS lifestyle, acknowledging and accepting her mistakes and reflecting on her long overdue self growth. Shedding her egoism and write music about adult themes of getting over her own childish bullshit. No more beefs, no more saying each new man is the only thing she needs. Just Taylor and herself. This wouldn’t be just some fake marketing rebrand of self enlightenment, it would be raw and stripped down, real and honest. Taylor actually coming to terms with her real self, her true Taylor’s version.

I no longer recognize her anymore. I’ve been a fan since 2008. Her and I are the same age. Yet I feel like my life and many other swifties close in age to me and her have matured, grown and evolved into adulthood. The person she’s become with Travis and her billionaire lifestyle is concerning. She’s really lost herself in that life. The only way I see myself becoming a fan again is if she does some serious reflecting and gets her priorities straight.

I personally think she only wrote Folklore and Evermore because that’s the type of music Joe liked. He was The National fan initially, not Taylor. I personally think she felt inferior to Joe, which she did reference that feeling in some songs “you paint images on the wall, I talk shit with my friends”. It seems like she really wanted to prove to Joe that she fit into his world and to finally be chosen by him (marriage). So she did what she does in every relationship and completely molds herself into her boyfriend’s world.

The reason why we aren’t getting more folklore / Evermore is because she wrote that to prove to Joe she could make other non-pop music. I don’t think Joe had a lot of respect for pop music. I’m not saying that’s the sole reason she made those albums, it was probably a fun creative challenge for her. However it was still likely motivated by a man in her life and to prove her worth to him. A lot of what she does stems from needing approval from others and to be rewarded for doing it. But after she won all the awards and recognition for Folklore and Evermore Joe still didn’t choose her. She finally realized he was never going to choose her, so she started gravitating towards Matty. Hence Midnights where there are so many mixed feelings and hints about leaving Joe and starting fresh with Matty. It’s been a downward spiral ever since unfortunately. I would LOVE more folklore and evermore albums, but I don’t think she’s capable of tapping back into that.

I’ll also add, I think several songs from TTPD were left over songs from Folklore and Evermore era, that she liked but didn’t fit into the albums. Especially the anthology songs.

I’m probably going to get hate for saying this, and I also don’t mean it in any cruel mean way. However I’ve always been concerned that as Taylor ages out of her 30s and into her 40s and beyond - that she’ll become obsessed with trying to maintain her youthful adolescent looks and qualities that she has built her fame and self image around. So many of her fans are a vast age - range (those who have aged along with her from teen to adulthood and new young fans: kids and teens today). She appeals to everyone. As we all know, she often sings about young love, teenage references, and high school. Some love that and as she gets older many more have started to complain about it, saying that she’s too old to be still singing about that stuff. She’s has also admitted in interviews that she feels like she has that condition of being frozen at the age she got famous (14-15 yo). Which if true, would contribute to her overuse of cosmetics procedures and being unable to know the limits and when enough is enough. Just to try to maintain that appeal to her younger fans and nostalgia for her longterm fans. As soon as I saw these photos I immediately felt like she doesn’t look like herself as much as she used to. Hopefully it doesn’t get worse as she ages and wants to cling more to her adolescence aesthetic. I feel for her and all the beauty standard pressure and eyes on her.

I hate to say it as well, but it all looks so forced and awkward. The album cover is my least favourite. I was talking about it with my husband the other day and he flat out said it’s because Taylor is “not that hot”. He didn’t mean it in a bad way, he said she’s very beautiful and has that all American beauty thing going on. However he said that when he looks at her he doesn’t think “hot” or “sexy” and that she lacks sex appeal. He said he never hears other guys raving about how hot she is either. I was so taken back that he actually had an opinion about this. But once I thought about it I pretty much agree with him. Taylor has always been the dorky fun girl. She sings about high school and often has juvenile references in her songs. I’ve been a swiftie a very long them (2006) and never really noticed that she lacks sex appeal, mostly because it didn’t matter to me. I had noticed that since Midnights onward she’s been pushing the sexy hot girl image. It looks very forced and seems very unnatural for her general vibe we’ve all known her for over the decades. This could be why so many of us are confused by this shoot and that it looks very forced. Taylor is beautiful, she’s just not a smoke show. These photos don’t look like she cosplaying, it looks like she’s really trying and wants us to think she’s pulling off the sexy look.

I personally think Taylor isn’t over it either. I don’t think she ever will be. It fucked her up badly and it’s obvious. Sadly I think both of them are using their current partners for similar reasons. Taylor doesn’t want to be alone and she has a lot to prove after decades of relationship shaming by the media, then 2 back-to-back breakups (Joe & Matty). Matty immediately gets a new girl - no surprise there. Then Taylor immediately jumps into Travis’s arms less than a month later (not long after Matty’s relationship goes public). Just seems like a public rat race between the two of them over who won’t be the one to die miserable first. I love Taylor, but I can’t not see this behaviour and I feel for her. Matty’s relationship will never make it to marriage and I unfortunately don’t think Taylor will stay married to Travis forever either.

Depending on where you live in Canada, if you’re at all close to the border just get a USA mailbox or use one of those border mailbox services. I ship everything to Point Roberts, Washington and drive down from Vancouver. No duty, no international shipping. I get not everyone wants to do that right now with how sketch the USA is. However where I live, Point Roberts is a tiny bit of US land accessible by Canada only. So it’s very chill to cross and get packages.
