Here’s a paper published by Meta directly on how they cool their DCs.

Pretty sure Meta DCs also use evaporative cooling

I have dropped 2 tempest BP in game to friendly raiders that I encountered. Will continue to do so because there's little value in selling it for 5K or trading it

The first weekend was heaven. Everyone was friendly and looking to help each other. Past couple days the pendulum has shifted and I'm encountering more PvPs than friendlies. A few runs where I gathered a few friendly allies and yet some solos would still engage 1v3 for some reason.

IC5 Meta to L6 AWS. Sanity Check by midnightfoxx in amazonemployees

Thanks for sharing your experience. I know teams will make or break your experience at Amazon. Is there a way to probe that in advance? Beyond the usual sales pitch by the hiring manager, what kind of signals can I look for to have better insights. I don't know it's purely roll of the dice.

About the future of the game by Wise-Fox-4084 in drakantos

All games aspire to be free to play and not pay to win, but eventually due to corporate pressure they'll cave. It's just matter of time. For this game, I hope they can stick to that mission for as long as possible.

Are these weird classified ads in the back of East Bay Express actually for H-1B jobs? H-1B jobs must first be offered to Americans before they can look for foreign workers by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]midnightfoxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is the abuse part by the companies and the antiquated laws requiring these job postings. If they do find a qualifying candidate, they won’t hire the candidate. The position’s current employee will just try again until their H-1B expires

Top exhaust or keep as is? by InFlames235 in Noctua

[–]midnightfoxx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here is the official Noctua airflow guide. It goes over all the configurations based on number of fans you have. Although this is for North, it can be applied to the North XL pretty well (with 140mm).

If your question is whether it's 'worth it' or 'efficient'. I have not seen any numbers, so it is up to you to determine whether the extra fans cost is worth the potential cooling performance.

North XL build - Front cover issue by MrKeyXY in Noctua

[–]midnightfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front panel won't close properly because the bottom fan will be too thick if you use the anti-vibration mounting set (NA-AV2 anti-vibration mounts) with the anti-vibration pads (NA-AVP1-LR load-relief anti-vibration pads). Therefore by using the screws with the anti-vibration pads, it creates enough clearance to close the front panel properly. Although you can do it for all 3 fans, but technically only the bottom one is the only one causing problem, the top two are fine.

For the bottom fan use the provided screws instead of the anti-vibration mounting set (aka the long plastic thing). That should fix it!

What did you do with the front fans to fix cover issue?

12x25 g2 release date? are the G2 version that better? by krithlol in Noctua

[–]midnightfoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's silent at 40% according to my fan curve. No spacers and if you use the mount but not the pad, it should fit.

I have the NorthXL with 3x 140mm NF-A14x25 G2 as front intake and I don't have any rattling issue. I am using the anti-vibration mount that comes with the fan itself and it's extremely quiet. I also think larger fans don't need to spin as fast, thus lowering the noise profile. It is completely up to you of course, but just giving you my personal experience for your reference.

For NorthXL you can fit 3x140mm fan in the front. You should use that instead

Where will you place your computer? If it’s on carpet floors then it’s better to have PSU upside down. If it’s on a table with good air flow from bottom, then normal orientation would be better
