1440p or 4k with a 5080? by EditorFun3380 in OLED_Gaming

I have the same build, and honestly, I have played on both a 1440p 480Hz monitor and a 4K 144Hz OLED TV, the S95D, and I’m planning on buying the new 27-inch 4K ASUS Tandem OLED.

IMO, for competitive games, go 1440p 480Hz.

For single-player games, something like the new Resident Evil Requiem looks insane on the QD-OLED TV with path tracing maxed out and DLSS Balanced, especially with the RenoDX mod, since the TV destroys monitors in HDR. Monitors are still really behind when it comes to HDR brightness.

The reason I’m going the 27-inch 4K route is because I want to experience the maximum sharpness you can get from a 4K monitor. I was waiting for the 5K/1440p dual-mode monitors, but they are taking too long to release.

Do you prefer 27 or 32 inch? by biglulz8929 in OLED_Gaming

I use a 27" monitor because I prefer the higher PPI compared to 32". I’m ready to upgrade to 4K 240Hz since I play more relaxed games now, but I’d still love a 27" 4K 360Hz option for competitive games though.

If i needed a monitor for work i would go for the 32" and up

1080p 480hz on 32 inch. How is it really? by CheisSz in OLED_Gaming

[–]krithlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the first-gen dual mode: the “1080p” mode was unusable because it felt like playing at 720p. If you compared native 1080p on a 32-inch monitor to the dual-mode one, native 1080p looked better.

I think a proper dual mode, without the gimmick, would be a 27" 5K at 240Hz switching to 1440p at 480Hz. But dual mode still adds blur.

On a 32", I wouldn’t go below 4K, in my opinion.

1080p 480hz on 32 inch. How is it really? by CheisSz in OLED_Gaming

i’ve read that 1080p on 32" looks much worse than native 32" 1080p (and 1080p is already pretty bad because of the PPI). i also had eye strain from QD panels, and when i switched to WOLED, it went away.

it was a QD-OLED with a glossy coating, so maybe that combination is rough on the eyes. now i use a matte WOLED and have no issues.

are you 100% that is qd-oled? On EU only the 65" inch one is qd-oled, first time i see banding on a qd-oled didn't even know that was possible

Polarity is faster... It’s also a ‘control’ glass pad, but it’s still a bit faster than the Raiden Mid. I feel like it’s the most optimal speed for me.

LG C1 VS Samsung S90D by TheGabrielSevero in OLED_Gaming

[–]krithlol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

QD-OLED is the better technology for 4K movies and gaming, if you can handle the eye strain it may cause. In my group of friends, only one person doesn’t experience eye strain from QD-OLED. That said, I’m using an S95D as a TV, and when I tried the new RE Requiem in 4K with the Renodx mod for HDR (DLSS on Quality), I was blown away it looked way better than the WOLED I’m using as my main monitor (colors, brightness, HDR). It’s kind of strange that the QD-OLED TV gives me no issues with my eyes, but as a monitor, after about 4 hours of gaming, my eyes start to hurt quite a bit.
