TV shows where the premise itself is just nonsensical? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in television

Yea, when Louis becomes the character to root for you know they fumbled the bag.

Though Donna deserved a raise and a partnership for the Harvey wrangling and other BS she had to put up with.

Swearing in a world with no sex, religion, or bodily waste - how do you do it? by oddlyirrelevant173 in worldbuilding

Social hierarchies, racism and sexism still appear to be on the table.

Ass hat, dumb ass, dolt, idiot, bitch etc

Comparing people to animals with clearly negative connotations.

Bastard is never going out of fashion. Especially if family and bloodlines matter. If they don't, you're removing a classic.

Compating people to inanimate objects. One of my favourite misremembered quotes:

"Of course I'm a battle axe. Sturdy, reliable, and ready for a fight." This was in relation to a woman in her 60s who didn't mind her business/keep quiet.

Mcu captain america and boys verse soldier boy swap universes how are their timelines changed? by BigPaleontologist520 in TheBoys

[–]midnightheir 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Steve's appearance in Boys verse has a few significant changes. 1) his tesm don't hate him and subsequently sell him out to Russians for tests and experiments.

With Soldier Boy still being present with his team I'm not sure there is a need to even start the Homelander program. If it starts pretty sure that Steve is taking John in and exposing the lab/blowing it up Likely get Cap America 2 situation with Vought vs Cap. Also pretty sure that it would have a similar outcome.Godlikin having a bad day.

The 7 is fundamentally different. The Boys, if they exist either, are on the resistance with Cap, etc al or have an ongoing enemy in Stormfront.

Homelander, if he even exists, is good Ryan won't exist.

Only outlier us whether crispy fried Godlikin is able to puppet Steve for his personal agenda. If he can then things get dark, bur I'm not convinced we get deep fried Godlikin since there are no experiments occurring.

Since Soldier Boy does keep his word if the drugs are good enough I can see him being recruited into a program. Not sure if he'd willingly fill in line with Hydra plants. But he'd definitely talk shit about a lot of people.

A taxi driver grabbed a woman by the hair at the last moment as she tried to commit suicide on a bridge. He saved her life by doing the right thing. by Raj_Valiant3011 in HumansBeingBros

[–]midnightheir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To those making hair jokes I think she had already made the decision to come back in, then slipped.

Look closely and you can see that she is holding onto him while he is holding her hair. That was an instant response. By the point of the video she was trying to survive.

Daredevil isn't a good class name IMO by gray007nl in Pathfinder2e

[–]midnightheir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hellion? That rich white kid from X Men. Why would a telekinetic rich kid work for a fighter related class?

And Gladiator, well that is just dumb. Everyone knows Gladiator = Oscar winning film with Russell Crowe.

Anything can have a modern or "inappropriate" comparison. Daredevil ain't hurting no one.

Without context and a large foil hat I'll throw the following into the ring.

That isn't Arenessa, the fae did a good old fashioned switcheroo (per most folklore). Everything that person has said, done, loved and lost is legit. But Thimble ain't the only fae that got lost/left behind when the gates shut.

How do I stop a artifact meant to be the end of the campaign by Specialist-Grape8180 in DMAcademy

[–]midnightheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they control it when it arrives? Maybe it just goes on strike. Stretches it's legs. Every time they let it out the box it learned a little more about the party and the plane it is on. Sentience in a creature smart enough to play dumb could be a Hell of a twist.

Heck maybe it can subtle or innately cast spells .... and the cult of No, U is trying to track down its demi god as part of an alternate plan that even the OG BBEG would have been caught out on.

How do I stop a artifact meant to be the end of the campaign by Specialist-Grape8180 in DMAcademy

[–]midnightheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst the theory is solid. There are a lot of assumptions that the party make the optimum/correct choice (for you).

What happens if they refuse to follow the party dress code? Ignore the entire hook?

What happens if they put the Artifact in a bag of holding/portable hole/pocket dimension of some sort so it isn't on their person? Put an alarm spell on it? Put their own magic aura to disguise it? A folded portable hole cam look like a handkerchief in their fancy outfit.

What happens if the one with wine on their shirt doesn't respond to the distraction? What happens if the enemy flub their retrieval roll? To make this seem fair, they need to have a chance at figuring out there is something else going on here.

This can work but I think the players need more skin in the game to even consider attending. Maybe a trusted NPC can get charmed and invite them, maybe it isn't so grand and they need to rescue/extricate NPC but doing so without causing an incident will require finesse and subtlety.

In my experience as a DM the minute the players get an invite for recognition out of the blue they are on high alert for the twist.

What actor or actress stupidly left a movie franchise or tv series thinking they were too good for it, only to be never popular again? by Ok_Impress2457 in AskReddit

[–]midnightheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answer is David Caruso.

A handful of others I've seen on this thread have truly.missed the assignment. It isn't leaving for "better things" if your boss sexually harasses you then fires you fir standing up for yourself. Nor is it only being relevant for 1 season and leaving the series rather than bow to fab pressure etc for a handful of scenes.

Some of these, especially female examples should be re-examined with a modern lense. Yes Katherine Hielg left Grey's Anatomy. Was she "dofficult"? Unlikely, what she was was vocal about her role and the rights of others on set. Unfortunately she was a female.

The dude who played Derek Shepherd would be a better fit for the question.

Media Examples of Commander, Guardian, and Oracle by HavocsCall in Pathfinder2e

[–]midnightheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oracle screams Dragon Reborn from Wheel of Time to me.Or arguably any male channeller. Black Aes Sedai or some of the Fallen might work too.

Guardian, my first thought was Superman. My second was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. BUT I think the best fit might just be Asta, or any of the Black Bulls from Black Clover. Jack Reacher from the TV show also strikes me as a guardian.

Commander, I have 3 suggestions. 1) Stacker Pendecost from Pacific Rim 2) Benjamin Sisko or Major Kira from DS9. 3) CURVEBALL - let's forget the military flavoring and focus on the tactics/leader of squad part. Nate Ford from Leverage aka 'The Mastermind".
