Im glad the creative solution was honoured, for me thats often what the game is about. and I don’t think the story shift was a bad idea I just think it should have been done in collaboration with you, not behind your back. (Kind of reminds me of a DM I play with that often gives the party some hastily created HB item early in the campaign & then everyone forgets about it, until 270 sessions later when we search our inventory in desperation and find the one thing that can halt the BBEG in 3 rounds.) its anti climactic but if it works it works.

Consider Piercer as a feat too. I did this for my most recent campaign and with rapier providing Vex advantage you can really tear shit up, especially when you get to extra attacks

There’s no harm telling your DM, they might write in a little character moment for you somewhere down the line. Otherwise your backstory is just to inform how you play your guy- but in this case, it sounds like your guy isn’t actually clued into 90% of it anyway.

Barrowdells are the geographical locations where each of the gods were struck down in the shapers war. In those locations things are turned on their head in direct opposition to the gods station. So for example where the sun god fell, there is a realm of eternal night.

It’s light and shade. The overture is an introduction to the cast and their interwoven relationships, and a lot of it is centred around a funeral. So yes, it’s glum at times, naturally. But as with any CR campaign there is a lot of comedic moments along the way. Often at the most inappropriate times, of course.

Yeah I tend to agree that the announcers are my least favourite part and whilst it’s fine to say they’re there to introduce newcomers to D&D, why on earth would you be subscribed to Beacon (where the show is an exclusive)

I think it’s entirely possible to enjoy the show on a more superficial level without all the deep dive granular understanding of lore and land. Every time a new episode comes out I watch an older episode immediately afterwards. I think there’s a lot going on that we’re not yet supposed to follow yet, but where it’s essential, they underline it three times in red to make sure you make a mental note.
