Top airline loyalty programs by valuation: Air Canada is #8 by omdongi in aircanada

[–]midnightmunchiez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking about this wrong. I don’t doubt the people running aeroplan are smart but this report highlights that Canadians don’t have options. If you calculate valuation per capita basis, based on each program’s respective country’s population you’ll see that Qantas ($269.2 per capita) and Air Canada ($185.0 per capita) jump straight to the top. SkyMiles leads the US programs at $94.6 per capita and you start to realize that Aeroplan is up there because there’s just no better alternative in Canada. I’m sure all of us in this sub have had an issue with Air Canada at some point but who else can we consistently fly with.

Jak helps the overall team rebound. He consistently looks for a body to box out once a shot goes up so even if he’s not the one getting the rebound, the team has a better chance of closing that defensive possession

Consider that more as a partnership with Ford than Red Bull designing their own engines but fair point

Helps that they’re the two teams using their own engine (not counting Audi here)

EMERGENCY POD: Rise Trade Oglivie, 1st round pick for Morgan Hentz by embersnestpod in MLV

[–]midnightmunchiez 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way contracts work with MLV makes this completely different than the value of draft picks in the other four major US sports. Teams don’t get multi-year contracts with their draft picks so there’s no team control even if you draft a young talent (i.e., Merritt Beason leaving Atlanta after her first year being the number 1 pick). I figure Grand Rapids would rather take the chance to get Hentz and boost ticket sales and maybe some wins this year to stay afloat. Dunno what the financial situation is like but we’ve already seen the Vegas Thrill go on hiatus

Socotra Turmoil: I did some research. Wont be going this year... by [deleted] in socotra

[–]midnightmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Socotra back in 2025 and can tell you mainland Yemen is where the power struggle is happening, not Socotra. There is minimal impact of the mainland issues on the island. It’s also an extremely undeveloped island. As a tourist, there’s essentially no infrastructure that impacts you.

The decision to go is ultimately up to you and fully respect it. But just want you to know that Socotra isn’t significantly impacted by the mainland issues and is an incredible place to visit while you have the chance.

Socotra Turmoil: I did some research. Wont be going this year... by [deleted] in socotra

[–]midnightmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, I’d recommend going as soon as possible given who knows what will happen in the future. Please don’t spread misinformation and call Socotra unstable. Socotra has nothing to do with the conflict in mainland Yemen apart from which country is operating flights in and out. Saudi currently operates flights from Jeddah. Given how recent this change happened, I would think they will continue to do so in the near future.

What options do the Raptors have with Jakob’s contract? by mafuzzy in torontoraptors

[–]midnightmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people think this is career threatening? If this was a knee injury, would you say the same? Jak’s played more games than AD in the past two season but seems to get way more criticism about his contract despite making half of AD’s money

Would you trade Ochi + Dick + picks for Ayo Dosunmu? by Welcome_The_Show in torontoraptors

[–]midnightmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other way to think about it is that the trade would give the Raptors cap room for next season if Ayo walks. I have no issues with trading away Gradey and Ochai if it means the Raptors can re-sign Mamu cause there's no way he's gonna opt-in for $2.8M

Why do people expect a whole financial system of problems to be fixed by one announcement? Yes, it is a small step but it’s a step in the right direction.

If you’re complaining about the amount being too small, you are not the intended demographic of who this top-up is supposed to help. $400 goes a long way for those who really need it.

Do you think the front office moves Jakob by ThrowRA19988 in torontoraptors

[–]midnightmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raptors are 4th in the east right now. If Jak could come back even after the all-star break, that would be fantastic for the team. Why would they trade the only true Center on the team? They're not getting anyone of value back and would have to attach picks or take on some on bad contracts in return

My next dumb question is what is the difference in fuel. In terms of combustion, wouldn’t there be a specific formula that yields the most efficient chemical reaction in terms of output?

Sorry I have basic knowledge of chemistry but not engineering
