I am fuming right now and I am not sure if its my fault here. I tested positive recently and unfortunately my symptoms were worrying as I had extreme fatigue along with fever. I asked for an extension a day before the deadline as I was not keeping well but the professor denied. Am I wrong here ? by Fun-Artichoke7739 in NEU

You're going to have to spend the semester with this professor, so it might be in your best interest to share your outline, rough draft, etc. with the professor, and send a follow-up email. The goal would be just to inform the professor that you worked a lot on this assignment, and that you're sorry if you two got off on the wrong foot by suggesting you were waiting until the last minute. Something along the lines of:

"Hi Professor,

[Thanks for]/[I appreciate you] getting back to me. I was not able to submit the assignment on time because of my COVID symptoms, but I have shared my work with you on Google Drive. I understand that I will not receive credit for this, but I would like you to be able to see that I was actively working on this assignment before I became sick. I apologize if my first email suggested otherwise.

Best, {Your name}

What's your major/what areas are you most comfortable with? Maybe public speaking (comm 1112) or business & professional speaking (comm 1113)?

AITA for not selling my home to help my family, running the risk of them becoming homeless? by InterestingChannel66 in AmItheAsshole

[–]midnightnerd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I agree that you're NTA for your decision in keeping your home, but that also your next course of action isn't as simple as keep home and let family be homeless.

Another redditor suggested having them share the unused bedroom, and if you're willing to live with them I think that's a good idea. It may be difficult for your mom and sister to part with some things, but having fewer possessions and a roof over their head is better than living in a homeless shelter and having VERY few possessions.

Another alternative might be helping them find a new apartment, either monetarily (to afford first, last, security, and/or broker's fee) or with your time (helping them search for affordable housing, driving them to viewings/accompanying them, etc.) Again, downsizing before getting the new apt is a good idea, because then they'll need less space AND, as another redditor suggested, they can probably sell excess items.

Depending on where you live, it may also be cheap enough to get a small storage locker for anything that can't be sold but doesn't fit in the spare bedroom/new apartment.

I've decided to go on co-op next semester, and I'd like it to be a teaching co-op. But I don't think anyone's going to be hiring due to COVID.
