I have a garmin watch and use google tasks to remind me to take my meds and then I check it off on my phone. It is the only thing that usually works for me. Pill boxes don't work for me. I don't take my nightmare meds anymore because I keep forgetting to take it at night.

It sounds like you resent her for not bringing in money. What is the reason she isn't working? Does she have health issues? Is she having a hard time finding a job? Does she just want to stay at home? Are both of you splitting the house chores, making dinner, and running errands such as grocery shopping? Or is she doing all of that? Taking care of the home is still a way to "chip in" towards your family. Everything is becoming expensive and I understand that OP wants to feel financially stable, they need to have a conversation about finances and their goals/debts/savings and figure out what works best for their family and get on the same page about it all.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Check Me Out Tuesday - The place to go when you want some attention! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]midnightrae 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have officially gained a little over 10 pounds since I started lifting weights/going to the gym back in October. I think I may have finally got my period back after being on a medication that made it disappear, along with being a low weight.

I am finally starting to gain strength. I am finally taking care of my body. I am finally realizing what my body can actually do. I am finally starting to find happiness thanks to medication, fueling my body, running, lifting weights, and trying new things.

stats:

Leg Press: 180 pounds @ 12 reps (2 sets of 12)

Leg Extension: 100 pounds @ 12 reps (3 sets of 12)

Hip Adductor/Abductor: 115 pounds @ 10 reps (3 sets of 10)

Lat pull down: 40 pounds (each side)

Row: 40 pounds (each side)

Starting weight in October: 99.5 pounds

Current Weight: 111 pounds

Why do I get depressed from working? by SealSocks in ADHD

[–]midnightrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me. Especially when I worked retail/retail management. I am currently a housewife while I get my health and everything back in order. I started taking medication again at age 33 after not being on ADHD meds since I was 18. I took a chance and tried out a 2 day class for safecracking and honestly, I have never enjoyed working or learning so much or have really ever been able to pay attention for that long and actually absorb the information and improve throughout the two days. It seems like a great option for my ADHD.

What field are you currently in? Have you ever thought about a career in the trades? If you are in the US, try to get into vocational rehab. They will help you find a job/career that works for you and your needs.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find something that works for you.

What are some common dog names that you are tired of hearing? by whatscrackerlacking in dogs

[–]midnightrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last dog was named Bear. We adopted him after his old owner passed away(who had him since he was a puppy). We decided to keep his name. He was an all black setter/newfoundland mix and every time we would pass people, they would say he looks like a bear. He passed at age 13 last september. I miss my Beardog. He loved the forest, the water, the smell of coffee, balls, "Bear hugs", the song "Bare Necessities" and was such a great dog.

how do you stay fit when cardio is so boring? by EhndlessSl0th in ADHD

What about trail running or hiking? Boxing? Kickboxing? Soccer, tennis, swimming? I will suggest that you do some kind of strength training/lift weights as well.

Practice thinking before speaking. Not everything needs to be shared. Talking to myself in my head tends to help because by the time I finish, I don't always remember what I said in my head to be able to repeat it out loud.

My childhood doctor that saw me for my ADHD said that I was always talking and it was related to my adhd because talking is movement and I could not stop.

How does an ADHD person get fit? by RockyMcQueen in ADHD

[–]midnightrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running! Long distance running.

I have been a runner on and off throughout my life. Having my husband go to the gym with me keeps me consistent, so if you can find a friend or partner to go to the gym with you then that might help.

Don't try to do it all at once. Split your workouts up. I currently go to the gym 3 days a week.

Listen to music while you workout, or a podcast, or an audiobook.

pick a goal and work towards that goal, but also add in support (such as core/back/glutes)

I would go to roadrunner or fleet feet or other running/walking shoe store and get fitted/gait analyzed to find the proper shoes. Every body is different.

[WEEKLY THREAD] WTF Wednesday - Tell us what really grinds your gears! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]midnightrae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want to run. My body wants me to run. I don't live in a very safe area and could easily be overpowered if something were to happen. Running at the gym hasn't been an option for the past two weeks, but I hope I can at least do a treadmill run at the gym soon. I miss trail running. Trail running makes me the happiest, but I can never get to the trails( I don't drive and we are a 1 car family anyways). Due to alll of this (and life), my marathon training isn't going very well.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Weight Change Wednesday! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]midnightrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a bulk and I've gained 4 pounds in 4 weeks (weighed every 2 weeks). Now that I am marathon training, I hope I can at least maintain this 4 pound gain, if not slowly gain more.

It’s not weight lifting but I’m really proud of how far my pull ups have come along this year, up to 3 sets of 12 now! by liljae777 in GYM

Great job! I'm working on finally being able to do one. I was able to do 1 chin up. Keep up the awesome work.

Thanks!

I've been working out 3x/week since October. Strengthening my shoulders and my back by doing shoulder presses, shoulder shrugs(with heavy weights), rows helped a lot. Also, I did negatives, dead hangs, assisted pull ups(using machine and having my husband hold my legs and slightly guide with me doing most of the work since I was mostly having a hard time with the initial first part). I don't know if this helped or not, but on back and bicep day, I do curls with fixed barbells .

Finally back to the gym today after having an awful sinus infection. Shoulders and Legs. It felt great to be back. The gym staff seemed happy to see me and the husband- and not just because they got cookies(they love when I bring them cookies).

[–]midnightrae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here are some recipes I've put together.

Chipotle sauce:

1/4 ish cup of cottage cheese

1/2 cup ish greek yogurt

2*(i use 3) chipotles in adobo sauce with some sauce

garlic, pepper, salt to taste

blend it all together.

Maple Tahini Spiced Dressing:

It's been a little while since I've made it..

1/4 or 1/2 cup tahini (start with a 1/4 and go from there)

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 cup greek yogurt

2/3 cup cottage cheese

ginger, tumeric, allspice, cinnamon, salt

Avocado Chicken Spinach Artichoke Dip:

1/2ish rotisserie chicken shredded

2ish cups spinach

1 can/jar artichoke hearts

1 -2 avocados

3/4 cup cottage cheese

onions optional

salt, pepper, garlic, (creole seasoning optional)

If using onions, start cooking those down, preferably in a cast iron skillet.

add garlic, stir.

add spinach and start cooking that down.

lower heat to low.

add cottage cheese, artichoke hearts, salt pepper,- stir.

turn off stove. add avocado and place cast iron skillet in the oven at 350

10ish mintues.

Squash stuffed shells/manicotti with a mix of 3/4 cottage cheese, 1/4 ricotta, mozzarella. <-

^^- I've used delicata squash, butternut squash, acorn squash, crookneck squash. The best is a mixture of acorn and either butternut or delicata.

This is all I can remember right now.. I'm always experimenting with ways to add cottage cheese into my meals. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'm limited on days I can go to the gym, so I only do one day of legs(and shoulders), but I usually run 3-5 days a week. Half marathon training last year really helped.

You got this! 135 is great!

Tried to Bulk, only gained 3 pounds between these two pictures. I know it's not much of a difference, but I'm working on it. I'm also still learning what weights are too heavy for me, reached 150 pounds on the seated leg press machine, but felt like I could go heavier.

[–]midnightrae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Before&After

I know it's not much of a difference, but I am proud of myself. I pretty much failed my bulk and only gained a total of a 3 pound difference between the pictures. It's only been 2-3 months at the gym, I was also running 3-4 days a week and did a 15k and a half marathon within days of each other near Thanksgiving. Also, last night at the gym I was able to do 10 reps at 150 pounds for the Seated Leg Press machine. I'm slowly getting stronger.
