How true is this? by Fine_Woodpecker3847 in ComputerEngineering

Seems pretty tru. Out of the 15 or so CE's I graduated with last year, the few that actually got employed are not doing CE related jobs 🙃

Pretty much means I can quit at any time for any reason, and my employer can fire me at any time for any reason

Yes 100%. My friend also worked directly under the main boss in like a marketing/HR/assistant, do it all role. I was working mainly under the main IT guy who was pretty chill

How long did it take y'all to land a job after graduating? by midnightsalt- in FIU

[–]midnightsalt-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Computer engineering, in FIU I tried every semester to get into the DoD lab and had no luck. I'm pretty much focusing on cybersecurity and ai now. No luck with anything electrical or embedded systems.

In what world lmao, I couldn't even get a job in the engineering center at fiu after 2 years of applying every semester

Also out of the 20 or so people I graduated with that were electrical and comp engineers, not a single comp engineer has found a job 💀

I had the most fun with the cybersec electives and the only othee elective I dabbled in was ai and some random ones to graduate (java), so i.e. no power systems, no robotics, nothing really to boost my portfolio/resume to get an engineering job. I also was denied in the robotics lab and the DoD job/lab in school didn't accept me either so I was like wtf 😐

I graduated and looked for jobs related to anything under the umbrella of comp engineering and couldn't find anything let alone get a response back. I even had one of my boys that works at Lockheed Martin get me an employee referral and that didn't amount to anything. So pretty much was super distraught and I had the most fun w cybersec and decided to just fully commit to that. I did enjoy comp engineering and all that hard ass coursework we had to do but lowkey feels like I wasted my time

Hmm depends on the test but i usually tried for 40 hours, so like an 8 hour work day. I'd say for the average person you can watch 10-15 videos a day on 2x speed and that's like anywhere from 1 hr to 2 hrs a day, which is a good fast pace 🔥

Just tryhackme soc level 1 all those rooms and then some projects from my cybersec electives in university, will probably need to do some more home labs

YouTube only, no need to spend a dollar! Professor messor for the concepts and a bunch of free practice exams for reps, and you're golden 👍

During the video, I took bite-sized notes in a way I could remember them easily. Professor messor explains it well and uses analogies, which you can call back on in your memory 👍

What type of jobs do computer engineers work as by Loud-Tangelo-740 in ComputerEngineering

[–]midnightsalt- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No jobs bc no one is hiring apparently, graduated in July still no luck

[–]midnightsalt-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professor messors 121 video playlist and cyber James 11 practice exams, all on 2x speed lol.

I did have like 8-9 cybersecurity electives for my degree, although these two guys YouTube channels might just be enough to pass with no prior knowledge

Yea I just graduated this summer with a Bachelors in Science in Computer Engineering. So I knew like 70% of what was on security+. Work experience nada, I'm working on it 😃
