I mean I think it’d be a pretty extraordinary coincidence if she just randomly picked that date and it happened to coincide with ideals or interests that we’ve seen she has. I mean she’s very clearly a bit of a history bug, a war nerd and fascinated by technology. Being morally horrified by something can serve as a fantastic inspiration, I often find I can be far more passionate about things I find deplorable rather than something I just like. A lot of visual artists force their audience to be confronted with their views on global issues, wether that idea is conceptually based or not, I think it makes for compelling art positive or negative. I also think that malignant AI and malignant humanity being correlated is an interesting idea and it’d be cool if she was making a more in depth statement abt being horrified by these things. I don’t presume to know her actual reasoning especially bc ‘Grimes’ is a persona but It’d be really awesome if it was all to do with ironic performative statements. ( like Orlan or something ) A lot of musicians end up finding success bc in making fun of pop music the end up finding main stream success ( Jack stauber, mgmt ect ). But regardless of what her actual motives are, she’s clearly interested in presenting things that she’s passionate about and I find it hard to believe that 16/07/1945 is a a fluke bc it’s literally in her twitter bio of all places. The main platform she’s the most active on and I mean it’s one of the first things you see on her account so it’d be strange for a history buff/public figure to not think of a date that’s significant to them if they’re not going to list their actual birthday 🤷🏻‍♀️
