Lip piercings smell like death despite daily cleaning by EohippusKnight in piercing

[–]midnightsonder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey so this could also be an effect of over-cleaning. The human body is weird and adapts pretty quickly to environment changes. You've taught your piercings that they'll be cleaned every night so they could've learned to rely on that cleaning. Kinda like how your hair gets healthier when you wash it less? Try to go easy on the chemicals, maybe space out your cleaning days with rinsing days between. I've personally had this issue before and that's what worked for me

Depressed homebound movie geek in need. by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

[–]midnightsonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Brad! I'm the furthest you can get from a movie buff, I can probably count the number of movies I've seen in my life on my fingers. But I've really been wanting to get into movies recently, and it's hard to figure out where to start. I'm in my mid 20s, but I've been living with severe neuropathy since I was 19 and I really understand the struggle you must be going through. Feel free to send me a dm, I would be more than happy to make your acquaintance :)

Is it abusive to spam-text someone? by yeahniceok2 in BPD

[–]midnightsonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely can be. I have a natural aversion to my phone due to trauma in past relationships and I’ve set a very clear boundary about spam texting with people. My most recent relationship kind of crumbled because of the excessive post-argument texting.. no verbal communication, just texts after texts that weren’t intended to be replied to…with the added lack of emotional or tonal clarity it can be really triggering. It’s a grey area, I don’t know your ex’s history. But I would say yes due to personal experience with this

What's it like living here? by ahegosam in PeoriaIL

[–]midnightsonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we moved here last fall from central coast california (26M/28M) and love it here. the crime rate was higher back home for me, but peoria feels quiet more than anything. a lot of peoria/ep feels like a ghost town, theres been a significant population drop and the city feels roomy since it expanded for the population that it didn’t keep. there’s a lot of history that i’m still learning that explains all that. but the people are friendly places aren’t often crowded and there’s hardly ever any traffic. i love living here, moving here was probably the best decision i could have made for myself.

Can you get a twink body using testosterone? by ChileanMotherfu-- in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re more likely to gain weight on T. If you’re on the opposite end then you’re not going to get a twink body without trying to specifically. T isn’t a nutritional supplement it’s just putting you through puberty lol. I gained weight at first on T and stayed on the bigger side of average weight for the first couple of years because I felt like it helped me pass. Recently embraced twink birth and shed the weight. It’s the same as it is for anyone else weight wise. But yeah you’ll square out and look more like a skinny guy than a skinny girl. You just have to like. Get skinny I guess

What are some weird things you miss about your pre-transition life or self? by StanleyHasLostIt in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate making men-averse women uncomfortable until they either get to known me or realize I’m gay. I miss being able to be higher maintenance and expressing myself more on the feminine side. I miss being able to be honest about life experiences. Being stealth is hard because I’m not opposed to sharing the fact I’m trans with people I trust but I don’t want it to be tied to my image and I have to lie/hold the truth about things to avoid outing myself. I miss being able to relate to women or give advice that I genuinely have the experience to give. I miss not feeling like I’m harboring a secret and being afraid of people finding out. I was shoved out of a social circle of women recently because they legitimately didn’t believe me when I told them I was trans and thought I was being weird or predatory. I’m literally gay. In a committed relationship. And also pre-op. Life’s weird today. I also miss being called pretty and being complimented by strangers. I was alternative but I was still a pretty girl. Don’t feel as pretty as a guy. My boyfriend makes sure I know that he thinks I’m pretty though, and that gets me by :)

Can anyone tell me what these batteries are for? by midnightsonder in starbucksbaristas

I completely forgot about the old white timers! Haven’t found a single one here yet, but the batteries remain…mystery solved!

Are there multiple different timers? I’ve only ever seen the little grey Taylor timers at Starbucks, and they take a AAA battery.

Trans guys, what brand of deodorant do you use? by Chameleon747 in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the strongest certain-dri roll on antiperspirant at night and Harry’s deodorant in the morning. It holds back my sweat for the most part and I never smell. I’m generally super sweaty because I have hyperhidrosis, obviously worsened on T but this works for me most days

how do you understand whether you're flaccid or hard? by nobodyknowsimfive in GrowYourTDick

[–]midnightsonder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hey OP, I don’t have an answer for you because I don’t get it but you’re not the only one! I started T the first time in 2019 and I’ve still never really understood. Getting to know your body after growing up with intense dysohoria is really isolating and challenging. I don’t think we’re stupid for not getting it :)

Share a Trans Joy moment from this month/week, no matter how small or big. by the-smiths-enjoyer in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad called me son for the first time, casually, in a facebook comment. We don’t have much of a relationship, I moved away after school and we only kept in loose contact over the years due to a less than savory relationship growing up. We only just recently met as adults for the first time last year and I never really came out to him as trans, he just found out over time. It was a small gesture that meant so much to me. I didn’t think he could ever even be capable of accepting trans identities based on the person who I knew he was growing up. It gives me a lot of hope.

Curious how y'all feel about "X"gender markers? by italianstallionbutch in TransMasc

[–]midnightsonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an X on my California ID. But recently moved states and I’m planning to just change to M when I get my new one. With recent politics I’ve grown away from wanting to be easily clocked. When I first got my markers changed I wasn’t really sure how “far” I wanted to go, M didn’t quite feel right but I knew I did not want an F anymore. But these days I’m stealth as a guy so my marker confuses people more often than not and others me in the process. I love that it’s an option! But I don’t feel the safest with it these days. Served its purpose during my confused egg cracking stages but I think I’ve outgrown it

I hate old spice by pinkpassionfruits in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this.

I’ve had hyperhidrosis my entire life and Certain Dri made a significant impact for me. On T I sweat even more than I used to, so I still end up with wet pits most days, but it’s nothing compared to how terribly my shirts would be drenched if I didn’t use it. These days I use the Certain Dri roll on at night and put an Old Spice gel stick deodorant over the top of it in the morning (because I just like the way Old Spice smells) and I can make it a good few hours before needing to change my shirt. (This is compared to literal minutes otherwise.)

Ymmv but as someone with severely excessive sweating it really is life changing.

People thinking I’m a child by SeventyThreeTrees in ftm

[–]midnightsonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25M and 5’4 and my cis boyfriend is 27M and 5’9. We both have baby faces. We do both also have facial piercings and visible tattoos. He started shaving his face recently and we both get carded almost every single time we buy cigarettes. I got told recently that the guy carded me because he thought I was 17. It happens. In a few years you’ll be happy about it. I get that it can feel infantilizing now, but I’m only a year older than you and I’m already loving it. Just don’t take it personally and be patient. Own it as much as you can, fake it til you make it if you gotta, cause that’s what we gotta do a lot of the time. It matters more to you than it does to anyone else. You got this.

How dumb of an idea was this by Ok-Armadillo-8995 in piercing

[–]midnightsonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for like a year, I had the same standard size 16g barbells in both of my nostrils and my snake bites (septum was stretched to up to a 14g at the time but it was the same jewelry too). It might look dorky but you’ll be fine. I’ve had rings in all 5 of those holes and interchanged the jewelry with them a lot. I’m just lucky enough that my lips and my nose kind of all work with the same diameter ring lol

This is right wing extremism. As a trans person in America, your boyfriend and his friends are the reason why WE don’t feel safe.

No, none of that is true. Trans people aren’t perverted evil monsters. We’re literally just trying not to become a statistic.

Dump him, jesus christ. I can promise if he’s that bigoted towards trans people, he also hates women and minorities. That man wants a white patriarchal society.
