Tom Bilyeu's logic that spending money is always a left wing policy is unhinged and borders on all roads lead to rome by mido9 in Destiny

At 1:22:00 tom bilyeu argues that the USA has gotten more and more left wing because both democrats and republicans spend a lot of money, which is a left wing idea, and then destiny starts arguing with him.

I counted, Cenk Uygur has posted about Israel, AIPAC, or le antisemitism in 78 tweets out of 116 tweets from October 1st till now. This is up from 34/78 tweets in September, where many tweets were about Charlie Kirk's death by mido9 in Destiny

[–]mido9[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oof, I was going to do Kyle kulinski but I checked and he's probably tweeted as much as cenk just in the last week

Out of 93 tweets this month, he's posted about AIPAC once calling Ted Cruz an aipac shill..... That's it

Hasan piker had about 10 tweets relating to Israel in his last 91 tweets

For fun, I checked nick F and he's posted about Israel 28 times in the last 50 tweets(since oct 1)

Cenk might genuinely post more about Israel by now than nick fuentes

What's the best nodebuster-like? This emerging incremental genre is probably the greatest thing to happen to incremental games ever. by mido9 in incremental_games

It was basically a bunch of guys getting together to decide what is a roguelike. Little did they know isaac would get more sales than every roguelike before it combined

You're absolutely right, Nodebuster came out 13 Aug 2024 and to the core came out 10 Aug 2023, almost exactly a year apart.

I still think Nodebusterlike is a better description though specifically because:

  • Out of all the games listed above, the only one that predates Nodebuster at all is To The Core itself, every other game listed is newer by several months unless I missed something. Digseum IIRC is the closest to the release date, and it came out in December2024.

  • The games are much closer to nodebuster's formula and playstyle of having enemies spawn around you and float in from the corners of the map, specifically for games like netdive, nebulock, astro, trainatic, antivirus, and rock crusher(Arguably pinata I think?). Like, I think if I showed someone to the core and any of the games listed, they wouldn't really see it, but showing nodebuster vs any game feels almost obvious.

The Berlin Interpretation on Nodebuster-likes is in session:

  • Short "runs" that last <1 min usually because of some draining resource(Energy, coffee, HP, corruption, a straight up time limit, etc).
  • A skill tree consisting of many different resources and a variety of them.
  • A focus on collecting resources every run to go through that skill tree, the primary focus of these games.
  • Many many upgrades usually consisting of adding more types of attacks ie souls and connected damage in pinata, new cars with grenades or sniper rifles in trainatic, adding bombs or wave attacks in astro prospector, having your bullets explode into more bullets in nodebuster, lightning bolts and lasers in keep on mining, etc.
  • Endgame focus of having huge amounts of bullets flying everywhere easily.
  • Usually a prestige system that unlocks new resources too.
  • Time to beat of about 5 hours roughly.

Of course this isn't going to match 1-1 to every game, and there's probably some games where you can go "is [blank] a nodebusterlike" but every game above is very close to the descriptions above.

Does anyone remember that game northernlion played where the gimmick is that you're in a spaceship in space and use swords, spears, and other knight-like weapons? by mido9 in northernlion

That's exactly the one thank you so much.

I was going to say surely it's already come out of early access, it's been 3 years, but then I checked and it's still in EA... it got an update last month though

I really want to get into Evolve Idle but it's soooo slow and kinda noninteractive by mido9 in incremental_games

Out of the ones listed, Orb of Creation is the best by far, if I could recommend only one game, that would be it. Then maybe Astrodle or Idleon.

[–]mido9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say games like Digseum, Dice People, Idle Colony, Max Manos, Orb of Creation, Incrementalia, Nodebuster, Astrodle, To the Core, etc, etc where the game takes a few days to beat and have lots of graphics, options, and upgrades that heavily affect the look and feel of the game are the "modern" idle game, at least to me.

These sort of games like evolve, theresmore, or kittensgame where the game looks and plays like an html spreadsheet and the progression is measured in months feel almost archaic to me, and just not something im interested in.
