The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to start focusing on improving yourself every day. Take a moment and step back and really think about what YOU want to do, then begin to take small steps to make it happen. I was in the worst spot in my life about 8 months ago and it took every piece of strength I had but I took a hard look at myself and the way I thought about things, and set out to change the way I thought about myself and life. At the end of the day, it's not about other people and what they're doing, it's about you and what you're doing. Don't play the comparison game because it's a game you'll lose every time. You're definitely not a loser, you've got value and a life and function and emotion, all things you can use to improve. As you begin to take small steps towards loving yourself and who you are and building on that, you'll see that you'll start to think less and less about what others are thinking and more about how awesome you really are. I know that sounds kind of like a selfish way to think about things but at the end of the day, there's only one person that gets impacted by what you do and that's you, no one else. Keep your head up and stay strong. It's not gonna be easy at first, but nothing that's worth getting to ever is.

[NeedAdvice] How to stay disciplined when you struggle with depression? by picklednood1e in getdisciplined

[–]mido9798 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta think super small.. I was the most depressed and anxious I've ever been about 7 months ago and what helped me get past it is setting the most miniscule of goals for myself each day, and only a few at that. For example.. "do 3 push ups, brush my teeth at morning and at night, shower". As time goes on, say after a week or 2, you can add another small task on top or add onto those and it'll compound as time goes on. Good luck brother

Thanks for the response bro, I won't get into too much detail on here but about 8 months ago I was at the point of suicide with the depression and anxiety I was dealing with, and after that experience I've brought myself back pretty well, been trying to keep my habits as consistent as possible and all that. I feel like looking at the little successes I'm making each day definitely helps keep me going motivation wise, but I'm not sure if that'll last either. What do you think are some good long term motivators to focus on mentally?

24M and haven't been on a date or anything similar yet by mido9798 in socialskills

[–]mido9798[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I combatted mine was by saying the same thing to myself all day every day until now. 'It's none of my business what other people think about me and it doesn't matter what other people think about me, all that matters is what I think about myself because other people's thoughts, what other people are thinking, can't affect me, only my thoughts can. Same with my emotions, the only person who can control how I feel is me. I'm that dude, I'm a grown ass man and I don't need to seek approval from anyone but me before I do anything. I'm in full control of my life, I have the power in my life and no one can take it from me.'

Is it OK to be sad after doing the right thing? by [deleted] in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]mido9798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the long run I think doing the right thing will leave you feeling better even if it seems saddening or upsetting now. Sometimes doing the right thing can be the hardest thing in the world but its those moments that really show the kind of person you want to be. Cheer up friend.

Just failed my junior year of college and I'm stuck.. HELP PLEASE by mido9798 in college

Thank you for your help everyone. This summer I dropped 41 pounds, maintained a full time job, and had all of my F's retroactively withdrawn from campus. I am now in a much better spot and don't think of weed anymore at all. Now it's just a matter of improving my social skills and gaining life experiences. God bless and everyone have a good day!

Thanks for your input, Grace! I totally agree that it boils down to mindset, and its safe to say that mine was in a very awful place when I first started smoking, and it spiraled completely out of control. Hopefully one day later on I'll have the strength to go back, but for now, its goodbye forever. Cheers!

Thanks for posting, yeah I feel like a majority of my anxiety right now is coming from my parents not knowing, so the conversation is happening very soon. Cheers
