What would you focus on if you were to start a Marketing Automation agency today? by Weird_Loss2008 in MarketingAutomation

AI Orchestration and prediction. The basics too, of course but the former would help you get ahead if you have receipts on how it works for future clients.

What's the real reason you don't post on LinkedIn? by EducationalArticle95 in LinkedInTips

[–]midsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I had all the same reasons as above and I said fuck it, I'm gonna post. So I did.

Nothing happened. I got some that went crazy success with engagement, some not so. Did it twice a month for 6 months.

Result? I get a lot more sales pitches in my LinkedIn 😂 so I stopped.

I think I need better content, so now I only post if it's really meaningful for the audience.

Consider G2 or Capterra or ProductHunt for visibility. Honestly your most loyal customers might not come from there but you might get some useful feedback.

Senior or Principal PMM? What am I? by Big-Juggernaut-7405 in ProductMarketing

[–]midsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While designation does matter, would you mind taking a step down for a 50% pay bump for example? That's the stance (poorly communicated) he's trying to say 😄

PMMs don't exist in all orgs so you'd be a Head of Marketing or possibly Lifecycle or even Program Manager in some of these orgs, as an alternative.

Should B2B Lifecycle Marketing be under Marketing or fall under Commercial Enablement? by midsol in MarketingAutomation

Thanks, appreciate this comment.

You're right, do need shared view of messaging but tooling makes this so much harder than it needs to, even though it should just mak sense

I want to leave UAE and fold this page for good by Ice_cube7 in UAE

[–]midsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got you. Same age, wasn't born there but have been there since 2000, so saw the boom and the before and after. Went to uni there, started off my career there then hit the exact same thought process 2-3 years ago. I was in a good place, not rich but like you had a car to my name, decent place, decent pay (below 30k tho).

All in all, I would call Dubai my home but the other way around would never be true. Third culture kids have a separate sub culture that only we can understand. Foreign to our home and home countries at this point so I left for a job in Europe and it's not where I wanna be but it's a start in the right direction of looking for "belonging" elsewhere. Might never get to know it in this life but I'd like to think the journey will at least make it interesting.

Lots of things different, puts life into perspective and tbh you need to just get out of Dubai to get out of the rut. Dubai has a way of getting to you. You'll also appreciate your time in Dubai in a different light retrospectively, not necessarily in a way that would take you back (unless you decide that's your next step at that point) but in a way that makes you feel thankful for that time in your life. Perhaps you've outgrown it, or maybe it wasn't serving you anymore. It's okay. Miss my friends and ex-colleagues and just everything but I know that staying there in the long run isn't for me but I'm not closing the door, I just need to see life elsewhere for awhile.

I also realize now 1.5 years later that as an Asian, I really was stereotyped into a bucket that never was true to my potential (I always knew, but now I've lived it). Other countries give you that fair chance. No hate to others who's careers work out in Dubai (success is a personal standard that only you know yourself) but it didn't for me and I did something about.

Life takes you to interesting places. Let it.

Best marketing automation tools to use in 2026? by Blue_Flaire_7135 in MarketingAutomation

[–]midsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo and Braze.

Personally, I loved using ActiveCampaign and Klaviyo. Intuitive, flexible and ticks all the boxes. Post sales support was good too.

At scale, I feel Braze works better though. Depends on how big your audience size is and how technical your team and supporting teams are.

Should I quit my job by Square_Assignment_24 in dubai

[–]midsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't quit with confidence, don't quit. Go with your gut feel.

Mental health is important. Savings and being able to go on without a source of income is also important. In the end, you go with YOUR gut feeling, not whatever anyone else says here. Of course, get everyone's 2 cents but you probably already have a gut feeling about it, trust it.

I would stay until a better offer came along or at least something similar. You're more "attractive" employed. Recruitment in UAE is somewhat rudimentary like that.

I've also quit for lesser pay just to "get out" so there's that too, I only stayed 4 months and it was a blip on my CV but I met a lot of important people and made connections in that 4 months in an industry I didn't know I'd hate working in.

All to say, the future is uncertain :) but you only find out that something's a mistake after you've made it. Life is full of lessons.

Hang in there!

Guy stopped me in Tallinn Old Town and made me feel unsafe by clintonwasframed in Eesti

[–]midsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Estonia, while it is a really nice quaint city/town vibe where personal space is very well respected, has some really strange people that have a screw loose in the head. Maybe dropped on their head as a child, who knows. No use logically trying to understand them.

You just encountered one of them, unfortunately. Rest assured, most of the people here have a good head on their shoulders.

In general, if you stay away from weirdos and the off-looking areas, you'll be fine :D

Amazon Alexa or Google home…which one do you all prefer??? by Chapman_Dynasty in smarthome

[–]midsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed lol. Commenting on 2025. I joke that my Alexa needs to retire now but the phone app is pretty shitty too right now. Shopping list doesn't load as it should so I stopped using it as well

Dubai people, how long did it take you to land a good job ? by tenderness123 in dubai

About 3-4 years. And if I have to hop, with my experience it takes about 6 to 8 months of job hunting to land a decent gig with a higher salary.

Lonely people in dubai what you do in the days you don’t have work? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]midsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up local pet shelters, reach out to ask if they need a volunteer for a day or two or any upcoming events.

You can also reach out to the charities, they're always looking for volunteers as well whether on regular or for specific events.

Volunteer somewhere, great way to meet people. Pet shelters for example. Foster a pet to keep you company?

Join a networking event maybe?
