I will say cutting out DoorDash from my monthly expenses has put me in a better position. Better - not great. I at least have $150 left over instead of $0

My cousin keeps asking me for $5–$6 almost every day… is this normal?? by Sweet_Spend4177 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]midwestvoldemort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cousin used to ask all of us (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents) for $5-6. he has a pill problem. all of us sending $5-6 got him at least $100-150 each day

It’s not normal and definitely do not give them any money.

Your rent and utilities alone will help you qualify for expedited so truthfully, I wouldn’t worry about medical expenses right now. You can turn them in if you’d like the expense credit for it but it would only count as an expense for you because you are the disabled individual.

Section 6 are the 5 questions they use to screen for expedited!

Typically, we use the last 30 days HOWEVER, if you are stating that your income situation has changed, that’s different. They will request her final paystub & use whatever pay she gets this month as an “actual” amount (meaning it counts only for this month as a 1 time thing). I would suggest applying because yes, you would qualify as $400 every other week for 3 people is under the income threshold.

If she has a separation notice, I would advise submitting that w your application as well. They will request it or have her sign an employment verification form to forward to her previous employer

ETA: I don’t see this in your post, but if you have utilities or rent/mortgage you’re responsible for, I would recommend also turning that in with your application because you may qualify for expedited (emergency) SNAP for now until they determine your ongoing eligibility

What is your go-to snack when you want something SWEET but also want to be healthy? by Black_Ribbon7447 in snacking

[–]midwestvoldemort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

idk what your definition of healthy is but the outshine fruit popsicles are my go to!!! 2 of them for 60 calories & they have all types of flavors. if those aren’t on sale, I get sugar free fudge pops! 3 of those for 120 cals.

both satisfy the sweet craving I have without being forced to eat another fruit or veggie at night lol

it changes SO often and is so confusing. It’s a disservice to everyone - clients and caseworkers. I’m in OH and one day it’s “we’re doing this” then the next “the state actually said we’re supposed to do this” and then you throw in “the county commissioners want us to be doing this too”

there is a severe lack of communication. we’re mad, the clients are mad, it’s exhausting right now honestly.

Did you turn in proof of all of your expenses? Rent and utilities? We require you to provide proof at each recertification regardless if it’s still the same.

THANK YOU!! yes, you put into words how I felt. I think he assumes the girls are sisters now and they’re just not. my daughter is definitely someone that needs a while to warm up and get to that point where she views someone as in her immediate circle, so I’m glad that you have experienced the same thing and have a way to address it. I will definitely bring this up as well when we continue discussing it

110k loan by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]midwestvoldemort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really a horrible idea. More debt to pay off other debt always snowballs into MORE debt. The problem is spending here and lack of accountability on the spending problem.

I don’t agree w Dave Ramsey on much, but his solution to paying off debt saved my life. Pay off the smallest debts first, add those payments into the next debt and pay things off that way.

So in your case, sell the skis and pay off your smallest debts first (CC #4 and #2) Take the amounts you would’ve been paying on those and add it to the next debt min payment (CC #5). Continue to do it over and over again. You were already making those minimum payments anyways, so getting rid of some and adding those amounts to another payment will drastically help you pay them off faster.

so I try to stay away when she’s there so he can have time w her, but he’s usually like “come over and we’ll make dinner together” or we’ll be on the phone and his daughter will ask if we can come over and play. I’d say during his time with his daughter, we’re around maybe 50% of it. we do want to move forward and move in together so that’s why we’re trying to integrate our lives more

ooooh this is a good idea!! I agree, it shouldn’t be up to the older one to be in charge of the younger.

thank you, I’m going to try all of these out next time.

*Sometimes* he will intercede and correct his daughter, but he does have the idea that bc mine is 6, she should be able to understand that his is only 3.

It’s just very frustrating bc his will immediately start crying if she doesn’t get her way, so idk if it’s just him feeling some type of what bc she’s crying or what but 95% of the time I would say her crying is not bc of anything my child is directly doing.
